Summary:
Paul passes along greetings from the churches of Asia, especially from Aquila and Prisca and the church that meets in their home. All the brothers and sisters send their greetings, and Paul instructs the believers to greet one another with a holy kiss.
He personally writes his own greeting, declaring that anyone who does not love the Lord is under a curse and affirming, “Maranatha!” (meaning, Our Lord, come!). He closes by extending the grace of the Lord Jesus and expressing his love for the believers in Christ.
Teaching:
All of Paul’s letters contain teaching about the return of Jesus.
The return of Jesus is the conclusion of our faith. When Jesus comes again, judgment takes place, and God’s Word reaches its complete and final fulfillment.
Paul’s final greeting urges us to hold firmly to the hope of the returning Jesus, to carry out faithfully the work we must do until the end, and not to treat this message lightly but to live it out well.
