Summary:
Paul says that God rescued believers from the domain of darkness and transferred them into the kingdom of His beloved Son. In the Son, they have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.
Paul then describes the Son as the image of the invisible God and the firstborn over all creation. All things were created in Him, both in the heavens and on earth, visible and invisible, including thrones, dominions, rulers, and authorities. All things were created through Him and for Him.
The Son is before all things, and in Him all things hold together.
Teaching:
esus is the very essence of God; He is equal with God. Therefore, to believe in Jesus is to believe in God the Father. We believe in God the Father, but we cannot come to Him apart from Jesus. Only by believing in Jesus can we enter the kingdom of God the Father. The kingdom of the Father is also the kingdom of His Son.
The one who has seen Jesus has seen God, and the one who believes in Jesus believes in God the Father.
Those who believe in Jesus and follow Him are people who belong to Jesus. But those who do not believe and do not follow Him live in darkness. Since Jesus came as the light of the world, those who believe in Him do not live in gloom or despair.
Believers are to live with vitality, joy, and confidence. They receive the Word God has given just as it is, and they live by faith, believing that no command God gives is impossible to obey through His power.
