Summary:
Paul speaks of his sufferings on behalf of the believers and says that he rejoices in them. He understands his suffering as part of his service for Christ’s body, which is the church.
Paul says he became a minister of the church according to the stewardship God gave him, so that he might fully carry out the word of God. This ministry concerns the mystery that had been hidden from past ages and generations but has now been revealed to God’s saints.
That mystery is Christ among them, the hope of glory. Paul proclaims Christ by admonishing and teaching every person with all wisdom, so that every person may be presented complete in Christ.
For this purpose, Paul labors and strives, relying on the power of Christ that works mightily within him.
Teaching:
A worker in the church is a worker of the gospel. The work is to proclaim, teach, and speak the gospel to people. Other tasks are secondary; the true work is to share the gospel.
If we are workers in the church, we must proclaim Jesus, urge people toward Jesus, and teach them about Him. The purpose of this is to build every person in the church in Jesus. Faith must grow and bear fruit. When people are transformed into complete persons in Christ, they can do the work of God with the power of the kingdom of God.
By the power of God, we become complete in Jesus.
