1942년 5월 18일 영국의 런던에서 태어난 앨버트 하몬드(Albert Harmond)는, 스페인 남단에 위치한 지브렐타에서 출세한 이색적인 가수이며 작곡가이다. 그는 15살 때 첫 싱글인
＜News Orleans＞를 발표했으며, 16살 때는 그의 형제와 다이아몬드 보이스(Diamond Boys)라는 그룹을 결성해 스페인 최초의 로큰롤 앙상블로써 스페인의 RCA 레코드사에 스카웃 되었다. 18살이 되면서 앨버트는 그룹을 떠나 영국으로 옮겨 다이아몬드 보이스에 같이 있던 리차드 카트라이트(Richard Cartwright)와 함께 ‘알버트 앤드 리차드’라는 듀엣을 조직해 유럽 순회공연을 다녔으며, 로스쿠이코 리카르도스(Los Cuico Ricards)라는 그룹을 거느리기도 했었다.
그후 작사가 마이크 헤이즐우드(Mike Hazelwood)를 만나면서 컴비를 이뤄 『올리비아 이상한 나라』(Oliver & The Under World)라는 아동용 TV 프로그램에서 여러곡을 만들었으며, 그 중 두 곡이 밀리언셀러가 되었다 했다. 앨버트와 헤이즐우드는 함께 훼밀리 도그(Family Dogg)와 매직 랜턴(Magic Lantern)이란 두 그룹에서 같이 일하다가, 1970년에 앨버트는 로스앤젤리스로 가서 솔로로 독립했는데, 72년 작품 ＜It Never Rains In Southern California＞는 그에 최대의 히트 곡이다. 그는 현재 가수보다는 작곡가로 한 몫을 하고 있는데, 근작으로는 훌리오 이글레시아스(Julio Iglesias)의 히트 곡 ＜Too All The Girls I've Loved Before＞, ＜Moonlight Lady＞를 위시해 ＜The Air That I Breathe＞에서는 과거 컴비였던 마이크 헤이즐우드와 손잡고 곡을 써서 작곡가로서의 실력을 유감없이 발휘하고 있다.
