This is one of my favorite books! I would read this book to my twins when I expected them before I went to bed. It made me very calm but I hadn't finished this book because of preterm labor.
This book is about life - the young pig Wilbur learning his life important lessons from the spider Charlotte. It's about friendship - Fern taking care of Wilbur, Charlotte weaving for Wilbur, rat doing favors for Wilbur and Charlotte, etc. Most importantly, it's about how life passes and goes on and on - Charlotte dying at the end of story but leaving to Wilbur her sack of eggs containing her 514 children. It has full of lessons.
Many children never experience life on a farm or visit a county. White and his illustrators picture that life sensually and beautifully. I wish my children would have this peaceful and interesting country life before they are grown-ups^^ | ||
