Part 5
The Civilizational Meaning of the Philosophy of Jinyoung Ssangkum Ryu — The Path of Human Completion in the Age of AGI

---

Technology advances civilization,
but cultivation completes the human being.

1. Civilization and the Human Path

The history of human civilization has continuously changed through the development of technology and knowledge.

The Agricultural Revolution led humanity into a settled way of life.
The Industrial Revolution created a labor-centered society.

The Information Revolution opened an era in which knowledge and information became the central forces of society.

Today, we stand at yet another great turning point of civilization within a new technological environment called AGI.

Technology will continue to advance without pause.
However, technological progress does not automatically guarantee the maturity or evolution of human consciousness.

2. The Standard and Center of Human Life in the Age of AGI

In the age of AGI, technologies will increasingly replace many human abilities.
Production,
analysis,
information processing,
and decision-making.

Across a wide range of fields, Physical AI will produce results far faster and more precise than human capability.

Yet even amid such rapid change, certain questions inevitably arise for humanity.

What does it truly mean to live a human life?
By what standards and values should human beings live?
As technology advances, where should the true center of human life remain?

These questions do not concern technological progress itself.
They concern the fundamental question of human existence.

3. The Restoration of the Human Center

What humanity needs in the age of AGI is neither fear of technology nor blind dependence on it.

Rather, what matters is that human beings do not lose their center, no matter how advanced technology becomes.

The center of a human being is not created by the amount of knowledge or the speed of information.

It is formed through the harmony and balance between the body and consciousness.

It is shaped through everyday encounters—through our words, our thoughts, and our actions in daily life.
When the physical self and the conscious self move together in harmony, that balance continually maintains the human center.

When the senses of the body remain alive
and consciousness is stable,
human beings are able to make their own sound judgments about their lives.

That is the very reason human beings possess the body.
There is nothing mystical, abstract, unrealistic, or irrational about this.

4. The Meaning of Martial Arts Training

Training is not merely the process of learning techniques.
Training is the process through which human beings understand their own body and consciousness and reconnect with the flow of nature.

Through movement of the body,
one begins to feel the order of nature.
Through understanding that order,
human consciousness gradually becomes stable.

Therefore martial arts training is not only the study of physical technique.
It is also a path of cultivation that refines human consciousness.

5. The Training Philosophy of Jinyoung Ssangkum Ryu

The distinctive feature of the philosophy of Jinyoung Ssangkum Ryu lies in the integration of three elements:
Technique, Philosophy, and Healing.

○ Technique (技)
is the process through which the order of nature appears through bodily movement.

○ Philosophy (理)
is the language through which that order is understood and explained.

○ Healing (癒)
is the process through which the balance of body and consciousness is restored.

These three are not separate domains.
They are interconnected within a single continuous flow.
For this reason, the training of Jinyoung Ssangkum Ryu is not merely martial arts practice.

It becomes a system of cultivation that views the entirety of human life.

6. The Meaning of Human Cultivation in the Age of AGI

As the age of AGI advances, technology will continue to transform the external environment of human life.
However, the inner world of human beings cannot be transformed by technology alone.
Thus in the future society, the abilities that become even more important are the inherent human capacities such as:
• bodily awareness
• stability of consciousness
• connection with nature

Cultivation is the process through which these capacities are preserved and developed.

If this process is correct,
health and happiness naturally follow as additional outcomes.

This is why human beings must continue learning throughout life.
It is why one must seek the correct path of cultivation.

And it is why the presence of meaningful relationships and true mentors is essential.

In this sense, the growing importance of philosophy and the humanities in the modern era becomes increasingly evident.

7. The Direction of the Philosophy of Jinyoung Ssangkum Ryu

The philosophy of Jinyoung Ssangkum Ryu does not demand special techniques that are limited to a particular era.

Rather, it presents a path that helps human beings maintain their center regardless of how civilization changes.

Through the body,
one understands the flow of nature.
Through understanding that flow,
consciousness becomes stable.

Through stability of consciousness,
balance can be maintained within life.
In essence, it is a path of transformation and renewal of human consciousness,
and the cultivation of human resilience.

This is the direction presented by the philosophy of Jinyoung Ssangkum Ryu.

8. Conclusion

The age of AGI is another great turning point in human civilization.

Technology will continue to accelerate its development,
and the ways of human life will also continue to change.

Yet there is something that does not change in any era.
In order for human beings to truly live as human beings, they must maintain their inner center and cultivate transformation and growth in consciousness.

Therefore, the more civilization advances, the more humanity needs the practice of self-reflection.

Throughout life,
human beings must look back at themselves,
cultivate reflection, resolution, and gratitude,
and refine both body and consciousness through daily practice.

The philosophy of Jinyoung Ssangkum Ryu presents one path for human beings to remain human within such a process.

Technology advances civilization,
but the completion of a human being comes only through correct cultivation—
through one’s words, thoughts, and actions in everyday life.

Human completion does not mean attaining supernatural powers,
nor mastering secret or mystical abilities.

Such ideas are neither realistic nor meaningful in the past, present, or future.
They arise only from human desire and ignorance.

People dig their own pits, fall into them themselves, struggle within them, and exhaust themselves.
As time passes, their minds grow dim,
and just as they came into the world without awareness, they depart in the same confusion.
Each person creates this condition for themselves.

As religion and philosophy developed into academic systems, countless ornate expressions and metaphors have sometimes made the path toward the ultimate purpose of human life more difficult.

This is why human beings must continue learning until the end of life.
It is also important to recognize that the ultimate goal of human life is spiritual growth.

And the correct path toward that goal lies entirely within everyday life—
within one’s words, thoughts, and actions.

Health and happiness follow naturally along that path.

The Buddhist realization of emptiness points to this.
The Christian teaching of love reflects the same direction.

Repent.
Become humble.
Pray with sincerity.
Awaken your mind.
Water is water, and mountains are mountains.
Humility,
freedom from greed,
moderation,
respect,
and a humble heart.

Though expressed in many different ways, all such teachings ultimately point toward the same message:
Live wisely, live well, remain healthy and happy, and move steadily toward the ultimate purpose of human life.

The beginning and foundation of human completion lies simply in everyday life—
in one’s words, thoughts, and actions.
Nothing more, and nothing less.

It is not grand or extraordinary.
It is simply common sense.
And it is profoundly realistic.
