66-2) April 15th Itinerary: Segovia (2) - Alcazar Castle, the model for the castle in Snow White

We had an early breakfast of jamón sandwiches and orange juice at a cafe next to the hotel. There, we met our Spanish tour guide.
We told him about our itinerary and asked him for recommendations for places to visit on our way to Madrid.
He said that Toledo was a place everyone would visit, but he recommended three places he always recommends: Pedraza, Sepulveda, and Chinchón.
Chinchón was already on our itinerary, so we decided to add Pedraza and Sepulveda.

The morning in Segovia was bright and clear, with the sun shining brightly. It was a bit chilly due to the high altitude,
 but the mood was pleasant.

66-2) 4월 15일 여정: Segovia(2)-백설 공주에 등장하는 성의 모델이 된 Alcazar성


아침 일찍 호텔 옆 카페에서 하몽 샌드위치와 오랜지 쥬스로  식사를 하였다. 카페에서 스페인인 여행 가이드를 만났다.
그에게 우리의 여정을 얘기하면서 앞으로 마드리드로 가는 도중 들려야 할 곳을 추천하여 달라고 요청하였다.
그는 Toledo는 누구나 들리는 곳이겠지만 자기가 꼭 가이드하는 세 곳을 말해 준다. Pedraza, Sepulveda와 Chinchon이다.
원래 Chinchon은 여정에 있던 곳이므로 Pedraza와 Sepulveda를 추가하기로 하였다.


햇살이 밝게 비치는 Segovia의 아침은 청명하다. 높은 지역이라 약간 쌀쌀했지만 기분은 좋았다.

Last night, the Catedral, luminous in the night, shines brightly in the morning sunlight.
This grand Gothic cathedral, the most modern and elegant in Spain, earned it the nickname "Lady of the Cathedral."
Destroyed by the Comoneros revolt in 1521, it was rebuilt in 1525 by Charles I (grandson of Queen Isabella) and 
completed in 1577.
어젯 밤 야광 속의 Catedral이 아침 햇살 속에 밝게 보인다.
고딕 양식의 대 성당으로 스페인에서 가장 새롭고 우아한 모습이어서 '카테드랄의 귀부인'이라는 별칭을 얻었다.
1521년 코모네로스의 반란으로 파괴된 것을 1525년 카를로스 1세(이사벨라 여왕 외손자)에 의해 재건되기
시작하여 1577년에 완공되었다.

 
The interior is bright, with a lattice pattern. The stained glass is beautiful. The decorated wall behind the magnificent altar caught our attention; this is the work of Juan de Juni. In the attached art museum, works by Pieter Bruegel and Van Dyck were on display.
내부는 밝고, 격자 무늬. 스테인 글라스가 아름답다. 훌륭한 제단 뒤 장식 벽이 우리의 눈길을 끌었는데
 이것은 후안 데 후니의 작품이다. 부속 미술관에서는 피터 부릐겔, 반 다이크 작품이 전시되어 있었다.

Built in the early 13th century on a rocky hill where a Roman fortress once stood at the confluence of the two rivers, 
the castle is said to have undergone expansion and renovation over the centuries by various kings.
두강의 합류 지점 로마 시대의 요새가 있던 바위산 위에 13세기 초 축성된 성으로 수세기 동안
여러 왕을 거치면서 증,개축을 하였다고 한다.

It is said that because of its elegant appearance, it became the model for the castle in Disney's Snow White.
그 우아한 자태 때문에 디즈니의 백설공주가 나오는 성의 모델이 되었다고 한다.

This woman was my Snow White when she was a teenager.
10대 때의 이 여인은 나의 백설 공주였다.

In 1474, upon hearing the death of the former King of Castile (Enrique IV, Isabella's brother) from within this castle, 
Isabella la Católica declared herself queen. Married to King Ferdinand II of Aragon, she is lauded as the heroine who 
achieved the unification of Spain.
1474년 카스티아 왕국 선왕(엔리카 4세: 이사벨의 오빠)의 부고를 이 성안에서 전해 들은
이사벨 라 카톨리카는 여왕으로 즉위한다고 선언하고 있다. 그리고 아라곤 왕 페르난도 2세와
결혼한 그녀는 스페인 통일을 이룬 여걸로 칭송받고 있다.
  

It is said that most of the castle was destroyed by fire in 1862. It was later rebuilt and now houses weapons, furniture, 
and paintings.
1862년 화재로 성 대부분이 불에 탔다고 한다. 그 후 재건되어 무기, 가구, 그림을 보관하고 있다.

At 12:20, we left this place and headed to Pedraza and Sepulveda, recommended by our Spanish guide (8,700 km). These are two places not even mentioned in travel books, and we went there with anticipation, wondering what they would be like.

12시 20분 이곳을 떠나 스페인 가이드가 추천해 준 Pedraza와 Sepulveda로 떠났다.(8,700Km)
여행 책에도 나오지 않은 두 곳, 이 곳이 어떤 곳일까 기대를 하면서 갔다.
