♣1. What would John Gray like to suggest in "Men Are From Mars, Women Are From Venus? And explain your own point of view on his theory.

♣2. The book has been called sexist and chauvinistic.  For example, John Gray claims that men go into their "caves" to solve problems and they value "power, competency, efficiency, and achievement", while women are like "waves" who become overwhelmed by problems and they value "love, communication, beauty and relationships".  This appears to give men the active role and women the passive role.

1) Don't you think the author stereotype men and women as problem-solving cavemen and talkative waves?

2)  This approach includes the presumption that depressed women are more concerned about relationship problems and feelings, whereas depressed men are more self-critical about work or achievement related problems.

Do you think that such worries about being unloved or being a failure are standard human concerns or not? Don't  you think they are kind of not gender concerns?

3) Some psychotherapists as well as scholars explain that men and women have voiced similar concerns and shown similar vulnerabilities for the most part.  According to them, men and women both get profoundly disturbed by rejection, disapproval, or feeling alone and abandoned.  But according to John Gray, these are stereotypically 'women's concerns.' Does this make much sense to you?

4) What kind of issues do you usually get depressed over?  If you are a man, just because of achievement not relationship? If you are a woman, just because of relationship, not achievement?  Or regardless of gender, because of both?
