평온의 기도(The Serenity Prayer) - 라인홀트 니부어(Reinhold Niebuhr)
하나님 제가 바꿀 수 없는 일에 대해서는
그대로 받아들일 수 있는 평온을 주시고
바꿀 수 있는 일은 변화시킬 용기를 주시며
이 둘을 구별할 수 있는 지혜를 허락하소서.
하루하루를 한껏 살아가게 하시고
순간순간을 한껏 즐기도록 하시며
고난을 평화에 이르는 길로 받아들이게 하소서.
그분께서 그러하셨듯이, 죄로 가득한 세상을
제 뜻대로가 아니라, 있는 그대로 끌어안게 하소서.
제가 그분의 뜻에 순종하기만 한다면
그분이 모든 것을 바르게 인도하실 것을 믿게 하소서.
그리하여 제가 이 세상에서 합당한 행복을 누리고
다음 세상에서는 그분과 함께 영원토록
최상의 행복을 누리게 하소서. - 아멘
God grant me the serenity
To accept the things I cannot change;
Courage to change the things I can;
And wisdom to know the difference.
Living one day at a time;
Enjoying one moment at a time;
Accepting hardships as the pathway to peace;
Taking, as He did, this sinful world
As it is, not as I would have it;
Trusting that He will make all things right
If I surrender to His Will;
So that I may be reasonably happy in this life
And supremely happy with Him
Forever and ever in the next. - Amen
