토템 캠 자발적 리콜
골수산악회에서 혹시 이 장비를 사용하는 회원분들이 있을지 몰라 정보 업데이트 합니다.
조금 지난 리콜이긴 하지만 이 장비를 보유하고 있는 상황에서 리콜 사실을 몰랐습니다.
그래서 번호를 확인하였고 다행이 리콜에는 해당되지않아습니다.
아래 사진에 보이는 위치의 번호를 확인하시고 해당번호(1706200 to 1733205 ) 사이의 번호가 적혀있으면 사용을 멈추고 리콜 해야합니다.
리콜 사유는 아래 원문에서 확인 가능하지만 캠을 구성하는 스틸 와이어 케이블이 CNC 머신으로 가공되는데 제조공정의 새로운 시도로 인해 강도에 문제가 생겼다고 표현되었습니다.
해당 자발적 리콜 제품의 90%는 정상이며 나머지에 강도문제가 있고(강도가 10KN미만이며 대략6~7KN) 아직까지 인명사고는 없다고 합니다.
해당 리콜번호에 포함된 제품을 소유하신 분들은 recall@totemcams.com 에 연락하여 리콜 진행 하시면 됩니다.
This recall is being issued based on our quality controls indicating a lower than expected strength specification of the brazing, which affects Basic cams of all sizes, manufactured between 7 February 2017 and 15 August 2017. While, as of today, no failure has been reported by any of our customers, their use as climbing equipment could lead to serious injury or death.
Due to this, if you happen to be an owner of a Basic cam with the abovementioned serial number, please let us know by sending us an email to recall@totemcams.com so that we can commence with the recall process.

What has the defect on the brazing been?The stem, where the steel cable is brazed to, is CNC machined. A change made in machining process led to a change in a surface condition of the stem, and to poorer brazing properties.
