1969년 영화 "내일을 향해 쏴라"(원제는 Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid)의 주제곡으로 아카데미주제가상을 받았다. 작곡가인 버트 바카락(Burt Bacharach)은 마음에 들 때까지 레코딩을 다시 하여 7번의 녹음끝에 이 곡을 발표했는데 1970년 1월 3일부터 24일까지 연속 4주간 빌보드 핫100 차트 1위를 차지했다.
1900년대를 전후하여 미 대륙을 떠들썩하게 했던 두 명의 은행, 열차털이 버치 캐시디(폴 뉴먼)와 선댄스 키드(로버트 래드포드)와 선댄스의 애인인 에타 플레이스(캐서린 로스)의 이야기를 다룬 영화로 노래는 버치가 친구인 애인인 에타와 자전거를 타는 장면에서 흘러 나온다. 친구의 애인, 애인의 친구를 향한 애틋한 사랑의 감정을 표현하고 있는데 제목 "내일을 향해 쏴라" 는 일본에서의 번역 "明日に向って擊て!"를 그대로 가져온 것 같다.
노래도 일본은 "비에 젖어도"(雨に濡れても)로 번역했는데 우리는 영화 제목과는 달리 노래 제목까지는 가져 오지 않고 Raindrops keep fallin' on my head 그대로 소개하고 있다. 다행이라고 해야 하나?
