갑작스런 소나기가 지나고, 맑은 햇살이 다시 나타나는 스콜 현상이 자주 발생되는 것을
최근에 많이 경험하시지요. 전 오늘도 2~3차례 경험하였는데
파주지역만 이런 현상이 있는 것인지 잘 모르지만..
그럼 스콜 현상이란 무엇일까요. 백과사전에 있는 내용을 인용합니다
8㎧에서 최고 11㎧까지 갑작스럽게 풍속이 증가하여 1분 내외로 지속되는 바람.
단시간의 풍속 변화나 돌풍 등의 현상이 스콜에 포함된다.
스콜은 흔히 비·우박·천둥 등을 동반하는 기상현상에 따라 이름이 붙여진다.
선(線) 스콜은 수백㎞에 걸쳐 나타나는 뇌우(雷雨)의 스콜 선을 따라 발생하는 스콜이다.
일부 스콜은 찬 공기가 경사면을 따라 하강하면서 형성되기도 하는데,
그 예로는 이탈리아와 발칸 반도 사이의 아드리아 연안에 나타나는 보라(bora)를 들 수 있다.
그밖에도 한랭전선의 이동은 북아메리카의 노더(norther)와 같은 다른 여러 종류의 스콜을 형성하기도 한다.
