[틈틈이 영어공부] When do things wind down?
- 영한 : 서서히 멈추다/끝나다, 잦아들다.
- 영영 : to end gradually
- 다른 의미 : 긴장을 풀다, 긴장을 풀고 쉬다. (to relax and stop thinking about work, problems = unwind)
※He regularly has a drink to wind down.
그는 긴장을 풀기 위해 규칙적으로 술을 한 잔씩 한다.
- 예문 :
The company is winding down its operations after years of service.
그 회사는 수년간의 서비스 후에 서서히 영업을 줄어고 있습니다.
After peaking in July, the summer movie season will wind down in August.
7월의 절정기 후에, 여름 영화 시즌은 8월에 서서히 끝나갈 것이다.

▶ (one) is an old hand at (something): ~에 있어서는 경험이 많다 노련하다
"My father is an old hand at fixing things."
(우리 아버지는 뭐 고치시는데 경험이 많습니다.)
