大成若缺, 其用不弊
완성되어 있는 것은 어딘가 모자람으로 보이나, 아무리 써도 못 쓰게 되는 일이 없다. / What is most perfect seems to have something missing; Yet its use is unimpaired.
大盈若沖, 其用不窮
가득 차 있는것은 언뜻 비어 있는 듯 보이나 쓰고 써도 부족함이 없다./ What is most full seems empty; Yet its use will never fail.
大直若屈
곧은 것은 도리어 굽은 것처럼 보인다./ What is most straight seems crooked.
大巧若拙
잘하는 것은 어딘가 서툴러 보인다./ The greatest skill seems like clumsiness.
大辯若訥
잘 하는 말은 어눌한 것처럼 들린다./ The great eloquence seems like stuttering.
躁勝寒. 靜勝熱. 淸靜爲天下正
움직이면 추위를 이길수 있고,고요히 있으면 더위가 물러가게 된다. 맑고 고요함이 세상을 바르게 한다./ Movement overcomes cold;But staying still overcomes heat. So he by his limpid calm puts right everything under heaven.
