When we take the perspective of others, we try to grasp (what/how) somethng means to them.

mean well
:  to want to do good or helpful things 선하거나 도움이 되는 일을 하고 싶어 하다 :  to have good intentions 좋은 의도를 가지다
He means well, but he's not really helping anyone.

자동사

마음 품고 있다[to ‥]

  • Your cousin means ill to you.

She meant well by[to] you
