  '데려가다, 태워가다, 태워 보내다, 타고가다, 바래다주다, 안내하다, 배웅하다'에 대한 체계적인 교육[학습]자료를 제공하는 영어교육자가 있을까? 교재의 지문에 나오는 표현에 대해 익숙해지게 만드는 학습에만 열중하고 있는 것은 아닌가? 전체적인 것을 보는 눈을 가지게 하는데는 실패하고 있는 것은 아닌가? 정원장영어가 대체적인 부분을 정리하여 공개합니다.


take A to 장소

to carry, move, or lead (someone) to a place (누군가)를 어떤 장소로 데리고 가거나 옮기거나 안내하다
This bus takes you downtown. Her office is down that hallway. I can take you there, if you want me to. He was taken to the hospital by ambulance. If you're going to the store, would you mind taking me (along) with you? She took us for a ride in her new car. He's not the kind of guy you can take home to meet your parents. I took him aside [=to a place that is away from other people] and told him what had happened. She took her child to one/the side and scolded him.때때로 비유적으로 씀 She took her team [=she helped her team go] to the state finals. Her landlord threatened to take her to court. [=to start a lawsuit against her; to sue her] He took me to the cleaners. [=he got most of my money in an unfair way]

usage 동사 bring과 take는 때때로 정반대의 의미를 가진 것처럼 사용된다. 그런 경우에 bring은 뭔가가 어떤 사람·것을 향해 이동하는 것을 암시하고, take는 뭔가가 멀어지는 것을 암시한다.
Here, I brought you some flowers. May I take your luggage to your room for you?
 get A to 장소

   to go somewhere and come back with (something or someone) 어디에 가서 …을 가지고[데리고] 오다
I'll get a pencil from the desk. Can I get anything for you? = Can I get you anything? Someone has to (go) get the boss from the airport and bring her back here.


 to send or take (something or someone) to a person or place 어떤 사람이나 장소로 …을 보내거나 가지고[데리고] 가다 <<가져가다, 데려가다>>
I have to get an important message to her at once! We have to get him to the hospital immediately.


carry A to 장소


 to move (something) while holding and supporting it (어떤 것)을 들거나 받쳐서 운반하다
She helped me carry [=transport] the boxes out to my car. I'll carry your luggage to your room. He was carrying his baby daughter in his arms. For two months, I carried the book around with me everywhere I went. The waitress carried away our empty dinner plates. The wind carried the smoke away from the campsite. These planes can carry up to 300 passengers. a ship carrying thousands of gallons of oil때때로 비유적으로 씀 Your talent will carry you far. [=it will make you very successful] She intended the play to carry audiences toward a sense of peace and understanding. She still carries the memories of an unhappy childhood. The song carries me back to [=it makes me remember] my first year of college.

 cart A to 장소

  If you cart things or people somewhere, you carry them or transport them there, often with difficulty.

(비격식) (누구를 특히 힘들게) 데려가다  

to take (someone) away by force (사람)을 강제로[난폭하게] 끌고 가다 

The demonstrators were carted off to the local police station. 시위대들을 간신히 지역 경찰서로 연행해 갔다.

They carted him off to jail.

The policeman carted  a criminal off[away] to jail

 haul A to 장소

  to force (someone) to go or come to a place (어떤 사람)을 강제로 어떤 곳으로 가거나 오게 하다 <<연행하다, 출두시키다>>     (억지로) 끌고가다[오다]
The police caught him and hauled him (in) to the station. The prisoner was hauled away in handcuffs. They hauled her off to court/jail.

A number of suspects have been hauled to the police office for questioning.   

많은 용의자들이 심문을 받기 위해 경찰서로 끌려왔다.

 bear A to 장소

 somewhat formal + literary :  to move while holding up and supporting (something) (뭔가)를 들어올려 받쳐 든 채로 이동하다 :  carry

To carry (something) on one's person from one place to another: bore the suitcase to the station.

b. To move from one place to another while containing or supporting (something);
 

Mom will bear the baby to cradle.

 wheel A (in)to/in 장소

   to move (someone or something) on a vehicle that has wheels …을 바퀴 달린 탈것에 실어 옮기다  (바퀴 달린 것에) 태우고[싣고] 가다 
Doctors wheeled the patient into the operating room.때때로 비유적으로 씀 Management wheeled in the experts [=management hired a group of experts] to study the matter further. 

Nurses wheeled a patient into the hospital.


drive A to 장소

[+ obj] : to take (someone or something) to a place in a car, truck, etc. 승용차, 트럭 등으로 …을 어떤 곳으로 데려가다[가져가다]
I drove her to the train station this morning. I had to drive myself to the hospital. Her mom drove us home.

 motor A to 장소

 To carry by motor vehicle.   to transport by car

자동차로 운반하다[보내다]

He motored his friend to the bus stop.

 ride A to 장소

 To cause to ride, especially to cause to be carried:

The police rode him down to the station.

He rode some young girls to the club.

He rode some hogs from the wharf to the store. 그 돼지 마리 부두에서 가게까지 차로 실어 날랐다.


중요

When someone controls a car, lorry, or train, don't say that they 'ride' it. Say that they drive it.


  (특히 승객으로 차량을) 타다[타고 가다]

She rode the bus to school every day. 그녀는 매일 버스를 타고 학교에 다녔다.


transport A to 장소

  to carry (someone or something) from one place to another …을 한 장소에서 다른 장소로 옮기다 <<수송·운송하다>>
A van at the hotel transports guests to and from the airport.


 to cause (someone) to imagine that he or she is in a different place or time (어떤 사람)을 다른 장소나 시대에 살고 있는 것처럼 느끼게 하다

The book transports you to another world.                            

그 책은 당신을 다른 세계로 데려다 준다.

The movie transports us to a world of stunning beauty. While reading, I was transported back to the year 1492. 

run A to 장소

a [+ obj] :  to drive (someone) a short distance to a place or event 짧은 거리를 운전해서 (어떤 사람)을 어느 장소나 행사에 데려다 주다 <<태워 주다>>
I have to run the kids to soccer practice.

 
c 항상 뒤에 부사 또는 전치사가 나옴 [+ obj] :  to bring (something) quickly to someone who is at a particular place 특정한 장소에 있는 누군가에게 (어떤 것)을 빨리 가져가다 <<속히 갖다 주다>>
Wait here. I'm just going to run this in/inside to her. He ran an umbrella out to her before she drove off. 

 zip A to 장소

  to move or act very quickly 매우 빨리 움직이거나 행동하다 <<쌩하고 나아가다·움직이다>> 

The taxi zipped us to the station in less than 15 minutes.

택시 15 되어 우리 까지 쏜살같이 데려다 주었다.
  

speed A to 장소

항상 뒤에 부사 또는 전치사가 나옴 [+ obj] :  to move (someone or something) somewhere very quickly …을 매우 빨리 어떤 곳으로 이동시키다 <<속히 데려가다>>
An ambulance sped her to the hospital.

  

 chauffeur A to 장소

  to drive (someone) in a car to a certain place (사람)을 차에 태워 어떤 장소에 데려다 주다   [남을] […] 자가용차 데려다 주다[to ‥].
She was chauffeured to the airport. He chauffeured his client to the hotel. They have to chauffeur [=drive] their children to soccer games every week.
  

push A into/out of 장소

to use force to move (someone or something) forward or away from you 힘을 사용하여 …을 앞쪽으로 또는 자기에게서 멀어지는 쪽으로 움직이게 하다 <<밀다>>  떼밀다

밀어 움직이다

He pushed me into the table.

My friends pushed me into the water.

We pushed him out of the room. 우리는 그를 방에서 밀어냈다.

hustle A (in)to/out of 장소

  to quickly move or push (someone) often in a rough way 흔히 거칠게 (사람)을 빨리 옮기다·밀다 <<떠밀다, 밀치다>> 

She hustled the children (off) to school.

The guards hustled the prisoners into the jail.

People hustled him out of town.

shove A into/out of 장소

 to push (someone or something) along or away in a rough or careless way …을 거칠게 또는 조심성 없이 밀고 가거나 밀어젖히다

He shoved me into the pool.

A large man shoved me out of the way.



light A to 장소

To signal, direct, or guide with light:   to guide or lead by light

() [사람 ] [어떤 장소] 등불 밝히고 안내하다[to ‥]


She will light a guest up the stairs to bed with a candle                      

그녀는 양초 들고 남을 위층 침실 안내할 것이다,


  
 pick up  to let or put (people or things) into or onto a car, bus, ship, etc. (사람이나 물건)을 승용차, 버스, 배 등에 태우다·싣다
She had a taxi pick her up at the airport and take her to the hotel. Have you ever picked up a hitchhiker? The ship will be picking up more cargo at the next port.
  

 walk A to 장소

  to go with (someone) to a place by walking (누군가)와 걸어서 어떤 장소에 가다 :  to walk with (someone) (누군가)와 함께 걷다 <<데려다 주다, 바래다 주다>>

 to escort or conduct by walking


She walks her children home from school. The nurse walked the patient to the bathroom. I'll walk you to your car. 

 accompany A to 장소

 to go somewhere with (someone) (누군가)와 함께 가다 : to be a companion for (someone) (누군가)와 동행하다. 배웅하다 


She will accompany me to the store. Ten adults accompanied the class on their field trip. Children under 17 must be accompanied by an adult to see this movie.

The hostess accompanied me to the gate.

  
 escort

 to go with (someone or something) to give protection or guidance 보호하거나 안내해 주기 위해 …과 함께 가다

 
He escorted [=guided, led] me to the library upstairs. Several fighters escorted the bombers back to base.

 lead

   to guide someone to a place especially by going in front (특히 앞장서서 가면서) 사람을 어떤 곳으로 안내하다 <<인도하다>> (앞장서서) 안내하다[이끌다 / 데리고 가다]:

Firefighters led the survivors to safety.
소방관들이 생존자들을 안전한 곳으로 데리고 갔다.


[no obj] You lead and we'll follow right behind you. [+ obj] He led [=took] me into a room in the back of the house. You lead us and we'll follow right behind you.흔히 + to The teacher led the child by the hand to his seat. = The teacher took the child's hand and led him to his seat. Our hostess led us to the dinner table.흔히 (be) led의 형태로 씀 The passengers were led onto/aboard the ship by the steward. The prisoner was led off to jail [=was taken to jail] in handcuffs.흔히 비유적으로 씀 I gradually led the interview around/back to the subject of his failed marriage. He says that he will follow the evidence wherever it leads (him). This leads me to my next point, which is that the building needs a new roof. The painting's composition leads the/your eye to the figures in the foreground. [=causes you to look at the figures in the foreground] 

 usher

  to lead (someone) to a place (누군가)를 어떤 장소로 안내하다 (비교적 격식) (특히 건물 내에서 정중하게) 안내하다:

 To lead or conduct    to conduct or escort, esp in a courteous or obsequious way
He ushered them to their seats. A nurse ushered us into the hospital room.

 The host ushered us into the living room.

 The waiter ushered him to a table.

The host  ushered guests to the door.

She ushered her guests to their seats.
그녀가 손님들을 자리로 안내했다.

 guide

 to direct or lead (someone) (사람)을 안내하다 [사람·물건·차가] [사람·동물·탈것을] [… 방향으로] 나아가게 하다[이끌다], 유도하다
She guided them outside. He guided us around the city.흔히 + through 또는 to Staff members are available to guide visitors through the exhibits. We were guided to our seats by an usher. You'll need an experienced lawyer to guide you through the legal system.


One company called the "Storm Chasers", guide tornado-lovers to various twister-prone sites for picturesStorm Chasers라는 회사 네이도 애호가들에게 토네이도 당하기 쉬운 장소들 안내한다.


She guided us through the busy streets.
그녀가 우리를 안내하여 붐비는 거리를 지나갔다.

We were guided around the museums.
우리는 안내를 받아 박물관을 둘러보았다.
 show

 항상 뒤에 부사 또는 전치사가 나옴 [+ obj] :  to lead (someone) to a place (어떤 사람)을 어떤 장소로 인도하다 <<안내하다>>

 
He showed us to our seats. Please show him in/out. [=lead him to the entrance/exit] She showed them the way to the door.

 conduct

 항상 뒤에 전치사 또는 부사가 나옴 [+ obj] formal :  to guide or lead (someone) through or around a place 어떤 곳을 지나도록 또는 여기저기 가도록 (사람)을 안내하거나 인도하다
Our guide slowly conducted us through the museum. Our guide conducted us along the path.

The guide conducted us around the ruins of the ancient city.                            

가이드가 그 고대 도시 유적 이곳저곳으로 우리를 안내했다.

The conductor conducted me to a seat.

 to show or tell (someone) how to go to a place (사람)에게 어느 곳으로 가는 방법을 보여 주거나 알려 주다 :  to give (someone) directions (사람)에게 길을 가리켜 주다

 (비교적 격식) (길을) 안내하다[알려 주다]:

 A young woman directed them to the station.
어느 젊은 여성이 그들에게 역으로 가는 길을 알려 주었다.
The signs directed [=guided] us to the museum. Could you please direct me to the office? [=please tell me where the office is]

  
 see A to 장소

 항상 뒤에 부사 또는 전치사가 나옴[+ obj] : to go somewhere with (someone) (어떤 사람)과 함께 어딘가를 가다 <<바래다주다>>


I'll see [=accompany] you home. They saw [=escorted] him out (of the club). My secretary will see you to the door. I can see myself out, thank you. [=I can leave without having anyone show me where to go] He kissed her goodbye and saw her onto the plane. [=he watched her get onto the plane]
