The New Orleans Pelicans expect Zion Williamson to return before the end of the regular season, a source tells Sam Amick of The Athletic.
The Pelicans announced this week that Williamson will be reexamined in two weeks.
Williamson has been out since early January with a hamstring injury.
In 29 games this season, Williamson is averaging 26.0 points, 7.0 rebounds and 4.6 assists in 33.0 minutes.

The Brooklyn Nets are "pleasantly surprised" by how Mikal Bridges has elevated his game since joining the team, sources tell Brian Lewis of the New York Post.
Bridges has averaged 25.8 points per game on 17.3 field goal attempts since joining the Nets from the Phoenix Suns. Bridges has scored 45 points in one game and has finished with 30 or more in five others.
“He’s the ultimate competitor,” Jacque Vaughn said. “I love that piece about him. He plays every single night. He’s very unselfish. He gives off his time, of his knowledge in the locker room, during the games. It’s really been a joy to be around him and learn him as an individual.”

Cam Johnson and the Phoenix Suns were unable to agree to a contract extension before the start of the season before he was eventually traded to the Brooklyn Nets. Johnson will be a restricted free agent this offseason.
Sources tell Brian Lewis of the New York Post that Johnson has a floor of $18 million per season and could easily hit the $20 million mark.
“I’ve said this — because this was a topic of discussion when I didn’t sign the extension — that I’m still under contract at this moment,” Johnson told the Post. “I still had that year; I still have the rest of this year. And my goal right now is to win games and make a playoff push.”

Despite the dramatic upheaval of the Kevin Durant era of the Brooklyn Nets, Sean Marks appears secure in his position running the front office.
A source tells Brian Lewis of the New York Post that Marks and Joe Tsai are "in lockstep" and another source said that “ownership has full confidence in that front office to build for the future.”
Marks built a competitive team without draft assets when he assumed his position in 2016. The Nets will attempt to retool this time around with 11 first round picks and eight second rounders. Brooklyn also has a number of tradable two-way wings and will presumably build around Mikal Bridges.

Ben Simmons has yet to play since before the All-Star break as he's dealing with both back and knee issues.
Simmons has now missed 24 games this season and his eighth straight.
“We want Ben back when he’s capable of being back for us,” Jacque Vaughn said. “The day-to-day thing, that’s just for me to say some term to you guys. When the back gets better, and when the knee gets better, then he’ll be with us.”
Simmons has $78 million owed over the next two seasons.

If Karl-Anthony Towns returns this season, the Minnesota Timberwolves could bring him off the bench.
When Towns does return, he could be on a minutes restriction.
"We feel KAT is able to help us regardless of what the situation is," Finch said. "If it's a minutes restriction, maybe you're strategic and he comes off the bench to start with that, depending what the minutes are. I think he would be open to anything at that point in time."
Towns suffered a calf strain in November and was initially expected to only be our four to six weeks.
