Mann, who was the subject of James Harden trade rumors, was recently named the fifth starter for the team.

The Cleveland Cavaliers have hired Dave Joerger as a coaching consultant.
Joerger had been an assistant coach with the Philadelphia 76ers under Doc Rivers over the past three seasons. Joerger was previously a head coach with the Memphis Grizzlies and Sacramento Kings.
Joerger will also serve as coach of Team USA in FIBA AmeriCup Qualifying games in February.

McDaniels will miss the Timberwolves' regular season opener against the Raptors.
McDaniels recently signed a five-year, $136 million contract extension with the team.

The 35-year-old appeared in 43 games for the Nuggets last season.
The Hornets waived Edmond Sumner to make space for Smith.

The Phoenix Suns are likely to be without a key offseason addition on opening night. Bradley Beal is dealing with a back injury and is like to miss the Suns opener at the Golden State Warriors on Tuesday night.
Phoenix acquired Beal from the Washington Wizards for a package that included Chris Paul and several second-round draft picks. Beal is expected to team with Kevin Durant and Devin Booker to form a deadly offensive trio for the Suns. That debut now looks like it will have to wait, as Phoenix plans to be cautious with Beal, as he recovers from this back injury.

Marcus Smart knew it was likely that the Boston Celtics would trade him at some point. But Smart said that didn't really take the sting out of actually being traded.
“If I’m being quite frank, I knew I would be traded eventually,” Smart said. “Just figured it would be the next season, just based off my contract and with the new CBA. We already knew that. But it was just the way it happened. I was told everything was good after asking multiple times. Like, ‘I’m hearing (rumors), what’s going on?’ And they’re like, ‘No, you’re good, you’re good, you’re good.’ And then when I do hear about the trade, it’s from Shams (Charania) on Twitter before I hear from the team.”
Now, Smart is ready for a fresh start with the Memphis Grizzlies.
“You always want to be where you’re wanted, and another team’s trash is another team’s gold. So I’m glad to be here,” Smart said. “I’m glad to be on an organization that wants me and sees me (have) great value. So I’m ecstatic and I’m ready to get going.”

The New York Knicks have made acquiring Joel Embiid their number one priority, should he become available on the trade market. New York is willing to let Philadelphia choose from a package of players and draft picks to make a deal work.
The Knicks are reportedly putting Julius Randle, RJ Barrett, Mitchell Robinson, Evan Fournier and two to three first-round picks on the table for Embiid. The idea would be to let the Sixers choose three players from that grouping, as well as the draft picks.
To this point, there are no indications the 76ers are considering trading the reigning MVP. Philadelphia remains committed to building the roster around Embiid, even as they work through trade talks involving James Harden.
Clippers Want James Harden More Than Malcolm Brogdon

The Los Angeles Clippers remain interested in trading for James Harden, but are continuing to not bid against themselves given what appears to be a lack of leverage on the part of the Philadelphia 76ers. The sticking point on a trade for Harden appears to be over the inclusion of Terance Mann.
Before the draft, the Clippers had the opportunity to trade for Malcolm Brogdon, but backed out over injury concerns. The Boston Celtics subsequently traded Brogdon to the Portland Trail Blazers and he is presumably available, but the Clippers still prefer a trade for Harden.
"The Clippers want Harden," said Zach Lowe. "It's a real thing. They want Harden. They want him more than they want Malcolm Brogdon. Pretty confident in that. And the fact that they're this interested in Harden, interested enough to throw out an unprotected pick. Or whatever it is. Whatever offer they've thrown out. I think is a vote of slight anxiety at the very least that their team as presently constructed is simply not good enough to win the title. Which is kind of depressing because, in a way, trading everything for Kawhi Leonard and Paul George was supposed to inoculate you from having to trade almost everything again for another player while Kawhi Leonard and Paul George were still on your team. Not a minor trade. That was in play. Not a small upgrade here or there. But here's everything we have left, go get us something else. I think they hoped that this was the team. This was the team that would get over the hump."
