Kevin Durant is expected to return to full practice for Team USA on Friday. Durant may play in the exhibition against South Sudan on Saturday or against Germany on Monday.
Durant has been out for nearly two weeks with what was termed a minor calf strain. While he's been with Team USA since the team came together, he hasn't taken part in full practices or exhibition games.
Team USA opens play in the Paris Olympics against Serbia on Sunday, July 28.
Knicks Checked In On Clint Capela
닉스가 센터 포지션 보강을 노린다는 것이 널리 알려진 가운데, 혹스의 Clint Capela에 대한 관심도 있다고 하네요.

The New York Knicks checked with the Atlanta Hawks on the trade availability of center Clint Capela. It's unclear how deep those conversations got, but New York is known to be searching for additional depth at the center position.
One challenge in acquiring Capela is his $22.3 million salary for this season. The Knicks would have to part with at least one rotation player to add Capela via trade.
New York lost Isaiah Hartenstein in free agency. That's left the Knicks with the talented, but injury-prone Mitchell Robinson and third-stringer Jericho Sims as the team's centers.

The Los Angeles Clippers have acquired Kris Dunn in a sign-and-trade with the Utah Jazz as they send out Russell Westbrook, a second round pick swap and cash. Westbrook will agree to a buyout with the Jazz for the second time in two years and then join the Denver Nuggets.
Dunn will join the Clippers on a three-year, $17 million deal. Dunn, who is represented by Bernie Lee, averaged 5.4 points, 2.9 rebounds and 3.9 assists in 18.9 minutes over 66 games last season with the Jazz.
Westbrook, who is now represented by Jeff Schwartz after parting ways with his longtime agent Thad Foucher in 2022, averaged 11.1 points, 5.0 rebounds and 4.5 assists in 22.5 minutes over 68 games with the Clippers last season. Westbrook's closest tie on the Clippers was Paul George, who also exited the team this offseason. Westbrook picked up his $4 million option with the Clippers to bypass free agency last month.
After the Clippers were eliminated from the playoffs, a report surfaced that Westbrook had interest in leaving the franchise for a bigger opportunity next season. Westbrook and Nikola Jokic have long had interest in playing with each other.
Tom Thibodeau, Knicks Still Expected To Agree To Extension Before Start Of Season
닉스가 시즌 개막 전 까지 Tom Thibodeau 감독과 연장 계약을 맺을 것이라는 관측입니다.
JUL 18, 2024 2:21 PM
Tom Thibodeau and the New York Knicks have yet to agree to a contract extension this offseason despite indications in March, May and June that a deal would be negotiated. Thibodeau has stated his preference of staying with the Knicks.
Sources tell The Athletic that there is no concern for either Thibodeau or the Knicks on the extension front as he is set to enter the final season of his initial five-year contract. Thibodeau is expected to negotiate a salary worth at least $10 million per season as contracts for NBA head coaches has increased dramatically over the past year.
The Knicks have had an unusually busy offseason with their trade for Mikal Bridges followed by a four-year, $156.5 million contract extension for Jalen Brunson. Thibodeau has long standing ties to Leon Rose and William Wesley dating back to when they represented him at CAA before they were hired by James Dolan to run the Knicks.
Following New York's disappointing 21-22 season, Rose resisted calls for the dismissal of Thibodeau. Thibodeau responded by guiding the Knicks to first round series wins in each of the past two seasons.
Front Office Executives Loved Two-Day NBA Draft Format
리그 프론트진들은, 이번에 개편된 2일에 걸친 드래프트를 상당히 마음에 들어한다고 합니다.
JUL 18, 2024 9:48 AM
The NBA piloted a two-day format for the 2024 NBA Draft. If front office executives get their way, the change will be here to stay.
One anonymous executive went in depth on the benefits of having the first round on one day, followed by a break before the second round on the next day.
"Having the ability to regroup after the first night and then meet most of the following day created a great process for our group in determining our next moves. We batted around dozens of trade scenarios, had time to watch a considerable amount of film and conduct additional background calls, map out strategies with agents of two-way and stash candidates we were interested in and ultimately come to a consensus in our group. We executed multiple trades and landed on several players we're excited to have now on our extended roster. There's no way we could have accomplished all that in the chaotic fog of a late night second round with just two minutes between picks."
Some referenced the awkward timing, which saw the second round play out in the afternoon. That seems to have mostly been due to a United States Presidential debate in the evening on Day 2 of the draft.
Execs Coming Out Of Summer League With Higher Expectations For 2024 NBA Draft Class

The 2024 NBA draft was widely considered one of the weaker classes in recent memory, but it is already proving to be better than expected and mainly just lacking the obvious star power of recent editions such as Victor Wembanyama in 2023. For example, ESPN had Isaiah Collier slotted at No. 1 in their mock in November, but he was ultimately picked at No. 30, which speaks to the flatness of the draft.
Zaccharie Risacher, Alex Sarr, Reed Sheppard, Stephon Castle, Matas Buzelis and Bub Carrington, as well as the older rookies such as Dalton Knecht, Tristan da Silva and Terrence Shannon Jr. all played well to start Summer League.
The skill level of players entering the league has never been higher, a point made by one executive.
"I was never in the group of people that thought this was a historically bad class," one NBA executive told ESPN this week. "Young players nowadays are so specialized from an early age and so exposed to high-level training and competition against their peers and college and NBA players. ... None of these guys are afraid of NBA players anymore because they've matched up against them in open gyms for years. The level of competition in college basketball and internationally is higher than it's ever been."
The depth of the class appears to have been severely underrated.
"Reed Sheppard, for example, has blown me away with his feel for the game and confidence," the executive said. "These guys are different players now than they were in March. Their bodies have gotten better. They are more explosive. And they've all been working on their game like crazy. This is going to be a fun group to follow. ...
"We're already seeing some real steals emerge here in Vegas."
