The Memphis Grizzlies have agreed to trade Ziaire Williams and a 2030 second round pick originating from the Dallas Mavericks to the Brooklyn Nets for Mamadi Diakite. Williams was the 10th overall pick in the 2021 NBA draft out of Stanford and appeared in 51 games last season with the Grizzlies, averaging 8.2 points, 3.5 rebounds and 1.5 assists in 20.3 minutes. Williams is represented by Aaron Mintz.
Williams fell behind GG Jackson II and Vince Williams II on the depth chart for the Grizzlies. By clearing Williams' $6.1 million salary for the 24-25 season, the Grizzlies move $10 million the luxury tax and $14 million below the first apron. Diakite is on a $2.3 million salary, but only $1.39 million is guaranteed.
The Nets will hope Williams can become a second draft success story as they take on his salary before his restricted free agency in 2025.
NBA's Vegas Franchise Could Have Total Expansion Fee, Arena Cost Of $7 Billion
NBA가 리그 확장을 알아보고 있는 가운데, Las Vegas에 새로운 팀을 열게 된다면 약 7billion의 비용이 소모될 것이라는 예측

The total cost for an NBA expansion team in Las Vegas could reach $7 billion when factoring in the expansion fee to the league and the cost of building an arena, according to two sports advisers who have previously sold NBA teams. Various reports have the expansion fee set at around $4 billion, but some advisors expect it to approach $5 billion due to the competition and increased revenue from media rights.
LeBron James has publicly lobbied for the Las Vegas franchise and is backed by RedBird Capital Partners and Fenway Sports Group, with both parties investing in James’ The SpringHill Company in 2021. Shaquille O'Neal has interest in bidding, as does Tim Leiweke, the developer behind Oak View Group, who has proposed a $10 billion project based around an NBA arena. Red Bull GmbH, the energy drink maker, is also in early deliberations about bidding to win a Las Vegas team. Finally, T-Mobile Arena has interest in hosting an NBA team.
The Boston Celtics are currently up for sale and their price could help set the market for Las Vegas. The Celtics are valued by Sportico at $5.1 billion and do not own their own arena.

If the NBA expands to Seattle, the ownership group of the NHL's Seattle Kraken are heavy favorites to be awarded the franchise, reports Bloomberg. The Kraken are owned by David Bonderman and his daughter Samantha Holloway. Bonderman is the founding partner of TPG Capital.
Climate Pledge Arena, home of the Kraken, is reportedly NBA ready if they are awarded a franchise. The arena will host a preseason game this October, which will be the third straight year they have done so.
“We built the arena in a very, very specific way to accommodate basketball,” Kraken President Tod Leiweke has said of the renovated facility. “We spent a lot of time because we knew there was another big moment coming in the NBA.”
Bloomberg also reported that the expansion fee for the NBA could be between $4 billion and $5 billion.

The Denver Nuggets and forward Spencer Jones have agreed to a two-way contract. Jones went undrafted out of Stanford at the 2024 NBA Draft.
The 6-foot-7 forward averaged 11.7 points, 4.1 rebounds and 1.4 steals per game as a senior for the Cardinal. Jones played one Summer League game for the Portland Trail Blazers. Denver will now have all three two-way spots filled, with Trey Alexander and P.J. Hall signed earlier this offseason.
