Stephen Curry, Warriors Sign One-Year, $62.6M Extension

Stephen Curry has agreed to sign a one-year, $62.6 million contract extension that will tie him to the Golden State Warriors through the 26-27 season. Curry had $115.3 million remaining over the next two seasons on his contract.
The Warriors have privately and publicly maintained the position that they will offer Curry the $62.6 million year onto his contract if he wants it. Curry will be playing in his age-38 season on that extension. Curry is represented by Jeff Austin.
Curry previously signed extensions with the Warriors in 2012 and 2021, as well as a free agent contract in 2017.
In 74 games last season, Curry averaged 26.4 points, 4.5 rebounds and 5.1 assists in 32.7 minutes.

The Boston Celtics finally broke through and won the 2024 NBA Finals. Star forward Jayson Tatum told his teammates that they can't get caught celebrating that title into next season.
"I’m of the mindset that after ring night, in a weird way, we got to put that behind (us)," he said. "Last year was last year. We did it. It was a dream come true. We worked our ass off for it. But after ring night, we gotta move on. We gotta get ready for game two."
As for his own struggles in the playoffs, followed by not always playing for Team USA, Tatum said he believes he'll ultimately benefit in the long run.
"I’m always a glass-half-full type of guy," Tatum said. "I always believe everything happens for a reason and whatever that is, I don’t know yet. But I’m certain I’ll find out."

Lonnie Walker IV has agreed to an Exhibit 10 deal with the Boston Celtics. Walker is represented by George Langberg.
In 58 games with the Brooklyn Nets last season, Walker averaged 9.7 points, 2.2 rebounds and 1.3 assists in 17.4 minutes.
Walker spent the previous season with the Los Angeles Lakers and averaged 11.7 points, 2.0 rebounds and 1.1 assists in 23.2 minutes over 56 games.

Boston Celtics forward Jayson Tatum's Olympic experience was a different one, including not playing and missing every jump shot he took. Still, Tatum said the experience was a good, despite the challenges.
"I wasn’t moping around. I didn’t have an attitude. I wasn’t angry at the world," Tatum said. "I stayed ready and did what was asked of me and I won a gold medal, right?"
Tatum also acknowledged he missed every jumper he took, but suggested that's part of not being in rhythm.
"I know I didn’t make a jump shot when I was with Team USA. I don’t know, law of averages," Tatum said. "It’s a weird rhythm thing being with Team USA; you never exactly know when you’re gonna get the ball. But that’s part of it. You sign up for that because I’ve done it before (at the Tokyo Games)."
Tatum says he hasn't lost confidence in his shot, and that he's not dealing with any kind of injury. After shooting poorly in the playoffs, the Celtics star said he's learned that sometimes things don't go as planned.
"I have two (gold medals) now, I have a championship, and everything doesn’t necessarily go the way you expect it to go, right?" Tatum said. "I’ve learned to be like, ‘OK, that’s a part of it.’ You move on, and I’m getting ready to enjoy the last little weeks I have before the season starts and get ready for another season."

The series, which takes place during the 2023-24 season, will feature LeBron James, Jayson Tatum, Jimmy Butler, Anthony Edwards, and Domantas Sabonis.

The Golden State Warriors want Brandin Podziemski to shoot 8-10 3-pointers this upcoming season.
“They want me to take anywhere (from) eight to 10 per game. That’s what they told me. All different types: off dribble handoffs, off ball screens, catch-and-shoot," said Podziemski.
Podziemski added that he passed up several 3-point shots each game last year.
“I think I can get to that amount. The reason they said that is because I’d be watching film last season after every game, and it’s always on there: Missed 3-point opportunity that I didn’t take. There were a good two to four each game that I passed up. If you look at that, it’s a good five to seven per game I could’ve got up," added Podziemski.
Podziemski was involved in several trade rumors this offseason. The Warriors told Podziemski that they never intended on trading him.

Ty Lue said he expects Kawhi Leonard to be ready for the start of training camp with the LA Clippers. Leonard had inflammation in his surgically repaired right knee that kept him out of the final eight games of last season and also limited his availability for the playoffs. Leonard was scheduled to play in the Olympics for the United States, but he was ultimately replaced by Derrick White when his status was in doubt during their camp.
"I speak to him all the time," Lue told ESPN last week. "He'll be ready for [Clippers] training camp. He's feeling good and I know he'll be ready for training camp."
Leonard missed the entire 21-22 season due to a torn ACL and had a repair of his torn meniscus in June 2023. Leonard played in 68 games last season, which was the most he had played in since 16-17 with the San Antonio Spurs.

The Cleveland Cavaliers have agreed to sign Luke Travers to a Two-Way deal. Travers was the 56th overall pick in the 2022 NBA draft and is represented by Daniel Moldovan.
Travers appeared in four Summer League games with the Cavaliers and averaged 8.3 points, 4.5 rebounds and 2.0 assists in 23.2 minutes this year. Travers also appeared in Summer League in 2022 and 2023.
Travers appeared in 36 games last season with Melbourne in the NBL, averaging 12.4 points, 7.6 rebounds and 2.1 assists in 27.0 minutes.

Ty Lue and the LA Clippers will enter the 24-25 season trying to remain competitive despite the loss of Paul George to the Philadelphia 76ers in free agency. The Clippers have only missed the playoffs in two of the previous 13 seasons.
"When you lose a guy of Paul George's stature, instantly people [think] oh, they can't win or they're not going to be competitive," Lue told ESPN last week. "But that just challenges me even more. OK, people are counting us out or people don't think we're going to be good. That right there just gives me an extra dose of [motivation].
"I can't wait to prove everybody wrong."
The Clippers are hoping to get a healthy season out of Kawhi Leonard and will have a training camp to further integrate James Harden.
"It will make a huge difference," Lue said of having an entire camp with Harden.
"Having to learn [how to best use him] on the fly was tough... What he's shown us is that we can run a pick-and-roll ... scoring the basketball, making plays for each other, making it easy for everybody to play."
