Madhuṃvā maññati bālo        마둥와 만냐띠 발로

yāve pāpaṃ na paccati          야와 빠빵 나 빳짜띠

yadā ca paccati pāpaṃ          야다 짜 빳짜띠 빠빵

atha dukkhaṃ nigacchati.       아타 둑캉 니갓차띠.

나쁜 행동의 결과가 나타나지 않는 동안

어리석은 자들은 그것을 꿀처럼 달게 여긴다.

그러나 마침내 결과를 이끌어 올 때

비로소 크나큰 고통을 겪는다.

As long as the evil deed done does not bear fruit,

the fool thinks it is like honey;

but when it ripens,

then the fool suffers grief.
