In Which Realm Do You Live? 

어떤 세상에서 살고 있는가?

Romans 8:1-10  

1	Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus,
2	because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit of life set me free from the law of sin and death.
3	For what the law was powerless to do in that it was weakened by the sinful nature, God did by sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful man to be a sin offering. And so he condemned sin in sinful man,
4	in order that the righteous requirements of the law might be fully met in us, who do not live according to the sinful nature but according to the Spirit.
5	Those who live according to the sinful nature have their minds set on what that nature desires; but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires.
6	The mind of sinful man is death, but the mind controlled by the Spirit is life and peace;
7	the sinful mind is hostile to God. It does not submit to God's law, nor can it do so.
8	Those controlled by the sinful nature cannot please God.
9	You, however, are controlled not by the sinful nature but by the Spirit, if the Spirit of God lives in you. And if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Christ.
10	But if Christ is in you, your body is dead because of sin, yet your spirit is alive because of righteousness.

1	그러므로 이제 그리스도 예수 안에 있는 자에게는 결코 정죄함이 없나니
2	이는 그리스도 예수 안에 있는 생명의 성령의 법이 죄와 사망의 법에서 너를 해방하였음이라
3	율법이 육신으로 말미암아 연약하여 할 수 없는 그것을 하나님은 하시나니 곧 죄로 말미암아 자기 아들을 죄 있는 육신의 모양으로 보내어 육신에 죄를 정하사
4	육신을 따르지 않고 그 영을 따라 행하는 우리에게 율법의 요구가 이루어지게 하려 하심이니라
5	육신을 따르는 자는 육신의 일을, 영을 따르는 자는 영의 일을 생각하나니
6	육신의 생각은 사망이요 영의 생각은 생명과 평안이니라
7	육신의 생각은 하나님과 원수가 되나니 이는 하나님의 법에 굴복하지 아니할 뿐 아니라 할 수도 없음이라
8	육신에 있는 자들은 하나님을 기쁘시게 할 수 없느니라
9	만일 너희 속에 하나님의 영이 거하시면 너희가 육신에 있지 아니하고 영에 있나니 누구든지 그리스도의 영이 없으면 그리스도의 사람이 아니라
10	또 그리스도께서 너희 안에 계시면 몸은 죄로 말미암아 죽은 것이나 영은 의로 말미암아 살아 있는 것이니라

내가 싱가포르에 있는 어떤 석유회사에서 일하고 있을 때,

한번은 다른 나라에서 어떤 검사원이 방문했습니다.

전쟁 중인 나라에서 온 검사원이었는데 자기 나라로 운송될 원유를 검사하려고 왔던 것입니다.

그는 마침 머리 위로 나르던 전투기의 굉음을 듣자마자 본능적으로 몸을 숨기려고 뛰었습니다.

그는 당황해하면서 이렇게 말했습니다. “죄송합니다. 제가 우리나라에 있는 것으로 착각했습니다.”

전쟁으로 찢긴 그의 나라에 있었다면 분명히 했을 법한 행동을 그가 한 것이었습니다.

I was working with a petroleum company in Singapore

when an inspector from another country visited.

He came to check on a cargo of oil destined for his country, which was at war.

When he heard the shriek of fighter planes overhead,

he instinctively ran for cover.

Embarrassed, he explained, “Sorry, I thought I was back home.”

He did what he would have done had he been in his war-torn country.

그리스도인도 이 세상의 수많은 유혹으로 말미암아

자기도 모르게 죄의 세상 속으로 되돌아가기가 쉽습니다.

로마서 8장 1절에서 말하는 “그리스도 예수 안에” 있는 우리 자신도 때때로 우리가 “죄 속에서” 사는 것처럼 살고 있습니다.

For the Christian, it’s easy to dive back into old ways of sin out of sheer habit

because of the many temptations in this world.

Even though we are “in Christ Jesus” as Romans 8:1 says,

we sometimes live as if we are “in sin.”

하나님은 지극히 큰 대가를 지불하시고 우리를 죄의 세상으로부터 구해내셨습니다.
하나님은 “자기 아들을 죄 있는 육신의 모양으로 보내어 육신에 죄를 정하사”(3절) 그렇게 하신 것입니다.

이제 우리가 “죄와 사망의 법”이 아니라

“생명이 성령의 법”에 따르도록 하셨습니다(2절).

바울사도는 우리가 “영의 일”을 “생각”하도록 권고합니다(5절).

이것은 우리가 성령이 인도하시는대로 하나님의 말씀을 따르는 것을 의미합니다.

God paid a very heavy price to take us out of the realm of sin.

He did so by “sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful man to be a sin offering” (v.3 niv).

We are now to be governed by “the law of the Spirit of life,”

not by “the law of sin and death” (v.2).

The apostle Paul urges us to “set” our mind according to “the things of the Spirit” (v.5).

This means that we take our direction from God’s Word as guided by His Spirit.

죄악의 세상 속으로 되돌아가려는 유혹을 받을 때,

당신이 보다 더 일관되게 “주 안에” 서 있을 수 있도록 당신 속에 계시는 성령께서 돕도록 하시지 않겠습니까?

When you’re tempted to dive back into old sinful ways,

will you instead allow the Holy Spirit

who resides in you to help you live more consistently with your standing “in Christ”?

Born of the flesh, conceived in sin, Then born of the Spirit, new life to begin; I’ve been washed in Christ’s blood and this will suffice, Praise God I’m His child, I’ve been born twice!  When you are born again, you become a citizen of heaven.

죄를 지니고 육신으로 태어났으나 성령으로 거듭나니 새로운 삶이 시작되네 그리스도의 보혈로 씻겼으니 그것으로 충분하네 하나님을 찬양하라 나는 그의 자녀, 다시 태어났다네! 당신이 거듭 태어날 때 당신은 천국의 시민이 된다.
