태양은 낮을 주관하고, 달은 밤을 주관한다.
The sun governs the day, and the moon governs the night.
陽(양)이가고 陰(음)이오며,
陰(음)이 다하면 陽(양)이 나타나는 것이 털끝만큼도 차이가 없다.
As Yang departs, Yin arrives, and when Yin is exhausted,
Yang reappears―all without the slightest hairsbreadth of variance.
이것이 하늘이 인간에게 주는 믿음이니 인간도 믿음도 하늘과 같은
다음에야 가히 哲人(철인)의 믿음이라 하겠다.
This is the trust that Heaven bestows upon humanity; only when human
trust aligns with that of Heaven can it truly be called the trust of a Sage(Cheolin).

日爲晝요 月爲夜니(일위주요 월위야니)
The sun makes the day, and the moon makes the night.
陽去陰來하고 陰盡陽生하여 (양거음래하고 음진양생하여)
As Yang departs, Yin arrives; as Yin is exhausted, Yang is born.
分毫不差라 此天之信也니 (분호불차라 차천지신야니)
There is not the slightest discrepancy; this is the trustworthiness of Heaven.
人之信도 如天之信然後에 (인지신도 여천지신연후에)
Only after human trustworthiness becomes like the trustworthiness of Heaven,
可謂哲人之信也니라. (가위철인지신야니라.)
Can it be called the trustworthiness of a Sage.

易經(역경)이 384爻(효)로 이루어져 변화를 설명하는 것과
366事(사)가 366事(사)로 변화를 나타내는 것과는 근본적인 차이가 있다.
There is a fundamental difference between how the /
Ching(Book of Changes) explains transformation through
its 384 lines(Hyo) and how the 366 Affairs manifest transformation.
366事(사)는 시작과 끝이 없는 무한 순환이며, 384爻(효)는 시작과 끝이 있는 유한 순환이다.
The 366 Affairs represent an infinite cycle with no beginning and no end,
Whereas the 384 lines represent a finite cycle that possesses both a beginning and an end.
무한 순환은 하늘의 순환으로 영원한 순환이며, 유한 순환은 땅의 변화로 시작과 끝이 반드시 있다.
The infinite cycle belongs to the neavenly realm and is an eternal rotation,
while the finite cycle belongs to the earthly changes,
which invariably have a distinct beginning and end.
366事(사)가 의미하는 바는 하느님의 변치 않는 진리를 설명한다는데 있고
그것이 곧 하나님이 인간에게 주는 믿음인 것이다.
What the 366 Affairs ultimately signify is the exposition of God′s unchanging truth,
which itself constitutes the very trust that God grants to humanity.
