 Chapter 1. Upper Classic : 21 Teachings, 157 Deeds.

 The 3rd Principle : Ae(愛,애)... Love... The 96th Deed

용납......第104事

 Category 2 : Yong(容 용, Tolerance / Inclusiveness)... Acceptance... Case No. 104.

  No. 9 : Myeongo(免故,면고)... Escaping or avoiding one′s faults/ transgressions... Section 107.

Myeongo(免故,면고) refers to a state where a person acts upon an unexpected,

unusual thought that deviates from their ordinary routine,

but upon realizing that it is wrong,

ceases what they were doing in order to break free from that wrongdoing.

Misguiding others and encouraging them toward the wrong path is akin to tampering

with weights and measures to satisfy one′s own misguided greed.

This signifiess that a person′s nature has become biased and their capacity(tolerance) narrow.

 Furthermore, it means their nature has become hollow, deceeitful, frivolous, and impatient ;

because of this, they fail to realize on their own that they must restore themselves to truthfulness.

However, when they eventually bring themselves to a state of ultimate truth and sincerity,

a profound sense of great magnanimity(broad acceptance) naturally arises within them.

[Original Text,

The one who achieves Myeongo is one who escapes from ppast conduct and stops it.

Misguiding others and offering wrong counsel is like destroying the measures of pecks and bushels.

Their nature is narrow and small ; their nature is hollow and false.

Even if their nature is frivolous and impatient―making them unable to know how to return

to the truth if they manage to attain truthfulness by themselves great tolerance and

acceptance will spring forth from there.

[ Coommentary/ Exposition,

  Misguiding people is a sin.

Misguiding others even while fully knowing that it is wrong is an immensely

   grave sin among all sins.
