No. 26 : Jeongno(定老,정노)... Providing stability for the elderly... 126th Affair.
定老(정노)는 노인이 敎化(교화)를 할 수 있도록 안정된 환경을 제공해드림이다.
Jeongno(定老,정노) means providing a stable environment for the elderly
so that they can engage in Gyohwa(敎化,교화 - edification / enlightenment).
어진 노인은 스승으로 모셔 교화를 전해서 그것을 널리 펴도록하여 스스로 덕을 기르도록 도와드린다.
Benevolent and wise elderly individuals are revered as teachers to transmit and
widely spread moral teachings, thereby helping them nurture virtue within themselves.
富(부)를 지닌 노인은 長者(장자)로 삼아 교화를 정성껏 지켜 스스로 편안함을 기르도록 도와드려야한다.
Elderly individuals possessing wealth(富,부) should be treated as respected elders
(長者,장자 - leaders / patrons of the community) to sincerely uphold edification,
thereby helping them cultivate their own peace and comfort.

定老者는 定老人之敎化也라 (정노자는 정노인지교화야라)
Jeongno means establishing stability for the elderly so they may carry out edification.
賢老는 爲師하여 傳布敎化하여 自育其德하고 (현노는 위사하여 전포교화하여 자육기덕하고)
Wise elders are made teachers to transmit and spread teachings,
nurturing their own virtue;
富老는 爲翁하여 誠守敎化하여 自育其安이니라. (부노는 위옹하여 성수교화하여 자육기안이니라.)
Wealthy elders are treated as venerable community patrons to sincerely sageguard edification,
nurturing their own peace and tranquility.
[Explanation, 풀이]
노인이 젊은이와 차이가 있다면 주어진 시간이 적다는 것이다.
If there is a difference between the elderly and the youth,
it is that the remaining time given to the elderly is shorter.
그 적은 시간을 在世理化(재세이화) 弘益人間(홍익인간)을 위해 사용할수있다면
노인은 주어진 인생은 값있게 마무리 할 수있다.
If they can use that limited time for the sake of
Jaese lwha(在世理化,재세이화 - governing the world with reason)
and HongikIngan(弘益人間,홍익인간 - broadly benefiting humanity),
the elderly can bring a valuable completion to their given lives.
편안한 마음으로 고귀한 天業(천업)에 남은 인생을 사용할 수 있도록 도와드려야 하는것이다.
We must assist them with a peaceful heart so that they can dedicate the remainder
of their lives to their noble Cheoneop(天業,천업 - heavenly calling / divine duty).
