No. 27 : Baeyu(培幼,배유)... Nurturing and caring for children... 127th Affair.
培幼(배유)는 어린이의 발육과 생장을 보살핌이다.
Baeyu(培幼,배유) means caring for the growth and development of children.
싹이 이슬에 젖지않는다면 줄기는 있더라도 반드시 시들고 만다.
If a young sprout is not moistened by the morning dew,
it will inevitably wither away, even if its stem manages to remain for a time.
마찬가지로 어린이가 보살펴지지 않는다면 비록 장성한다하더라도 반드시 쓸모가 없게된다.
Similarly, if a child is not nurtured and cared for,
they will inevitably grow up to be of no use to the world,
even if they reach physical adulthood.
보살피어 바로세우고 성장시켜 이루게하면 잎과 가지와 같이 서로 번성하게 된다.
By nurturing, guiding them uprightly, and helping them grow to achieve their potential,
they will flourish together like thriving leaves and branches.

培幼者는 培養幼穉也라 (배유자는 배양유치야라)
Baeyu means cultivating and nurturing the young and immature.
萌不霑露면 雖莖必萎요 (맹불점로면 수경필위요)
If a sprout is not moistened by dew,
it will inevitably wither away despite its stem.
童不服育이면 雖長必頑이니 (동불복육이면 수장필완이니)
If a child is not educated and nurtured,
they will inevitably grow up to be ignorant and obstinate,
despite reaching adulthood.
培而植之하며 養而成之면 (배이식지하며 양이성지면)
If you cultivate and plant them well,
and if you nurture and bring them to completion.
敎化는 與枝葉相繁이니라. (교화는 여지엽상번이니라.)
The fruits of edification and education will flourish mutually,
just like leaves and branches.
[Explanation, 풀이]
교육은 반드시 태교부터 시작한다는것은 부여의 국법이었다.
That education must begin from the stage of prenatal care(Taeghyo)
was a national law of the ancient Buyeo Kingdom.
하물며 태어난 어린이를 교육하는일의 중요성은 말로 설명할 필요조차 없는 것이다.
Therefore, the importance of educating children once they are born
is so absolute that it goes entirely without saying.
