제 1규. 時(시)......때......第147事
Rule 1 : Time(時,시)... The Right Moment... Natter No. 147
時(시)는 만물을 구제함에 시기가 있음이다.
"Time" means that there is a proper season for saving and aiding all creation.
구제하는 데에 시기가 맞지 않는다면 제비와 기러기가 서로 찾아오는 때가 다르고
물과 산이 서로 멀어지는 것과 같으며, 털과 껍질이 서로 같지 않은 것과 같아진다.
If the timeing is not right when attempting to save them,
it becomes like swallows and geese arriving at completely different seasons,
like waters and mountains drifting far apart from each other,
and like fur and scales becoming entirely different from one another.

時는 濟物之時也라 (시는 제물지시야라)
Time is the right moment for aiding all things.
濟不以時면 燕鴻이 相違하고 (제불이시면 연홍이 상위하고)
If aiding is not done at the right time, the swallows and geese will miss each other,
水與山遠하며 毛甲이 不同이니라. (수여산원하며 모갑이 부동이니라.)
waters and mountains will grow distant, and fur and armor(scales/shells) will not match.

인간이 고통 받는다는 것은 주로 때를 활용하는 일에 실패하기 때문이다.
Human suffering primarily stems frrom the failure to make proper use of the "right time."
인간이 때가 의미하는 시간성으로 부터의 속박에서 벗어난다면 고통도 없다.
If human beings could break free from the bondage of temporality― which is what "time"
represents ― there would be no suffering.
하지만 땅 위에서 몸을 지니고 살아가는 사람이 시간성으로부터 벗어나는 것은 불가능하다.
However, it is impossible for a person living with a physical body upon
this earth to escape temporality.
왜냐하면 땅과 시간은 개념상 같은 것이다.
This is because, conceptually, the earth and time are one and the same.
따라서 남을 구제하는 사람이 때의 이치를 모른다면 인간의 고통을 덜어 줄 수 없다.
Therefore, if a person who wishes to save others does not understand the principles
and reason of " the right time," they will never be able to alleviate human suffering.
