Section 10 : Bigam(肥甘,비감)... Fertile and Sweet... Case 158
肥甘(비감)은 땅의 바탕이 기름지고 땅의 맛이 단것이다.
Bigam(肥甘,비감) means that the foundation og the land is fertile
and the taste of the land is sweet.
땅의 바탕이 기름지고 맛이 달면 인심이 순후하고 화락하다.
When the foundation of the land is fretile and its taste is sweet,
the mimds of the people become gentle, kind, and harmonious.
덕을 펴고 가르침을 베푸는데 마치 바람이 싱싱한 풀을 스치듯 하여
하늘의 참된 성품을 이루게 되고 그 참된 성품을 양성하여 부근까지 파급하게 된다.
Spreading virtue and imparting teacchings is like s refreshing breeze brushing past healthy grass.
Thus, they achieve the true nature of Heaven, and by nurturing that true nature,
its influence spreads even to neighboring areas.

肥甘者는 地質이 肥하고 地味甘也라 (비감자는 지질이 비하고 지미감야라)
As for Bigam(Fertile and sweet),
it means the quality of the soil is fertile and the taste af the land is sweet.
地質肥味甘則人性이 淳厚和樂하나니 (지질비미감즉인성이 순후화락하나니)
When the soil is fertile and the taste of the lland is sweet,
human nature becomes gentle, honest, harminious, and joyful.
布德施敎에 如風過健草하여 (포덕성시교에 여풍과건초하여)
In spreading virtue and imparting teachings,
it is like the wind blowing over healthy, vigorous grass.
成其天性하며 養其天心하여 波及附近이니라. (성기천성하며 양기천심하여 파급부근이니라.)
It fulfills their heavenly nature and nurtures their heavenly mind,
thereby spreading its influence to neighboring areas.
※ Key Notes.
● 人性(인성) : Human nature(인간의 성품).
● 淳厚和樂(순후화락) : Gentle, honest, hharmonious, and joyful(순박하고 두터우며 화평하고 즐겁다).
● 天性(천성) /天心(천심) : Heavenly nature/ Heavenly mind(하늘이 부여한 본성과 마음).
