(2076) (우리가 힘든 일을 하려 할 때 처음에는 마치 하나님이 계시지 않은 것처럼 행해야 합니다. 처음 시작할 때 하나님을 기다리는 것은 의미가 없습니다. 시작하고 나면 하나님이 이미 거기에 계신 것을 알 수가 있습니다. 우리가 일어나 빛을 비추면 어려운 일도 일상의 일도 변화됩니다.)

When it comes to taking the initiative against drudgery, we have to take the first step as though there were no God. There is no point in waiting for God to help us—He will not. But once we arise, immediately we find He is there. Whenever God gives us His inspiration, suddenly taking the initiative becomes a moral issue-a matter of obedience. Then we must act to be obedient and not continue to lie down doing nothing, If we will arise and shine, drudgery will be divinely transformed.

(2077) (일상적이고 힘든 일들은 우리가 어떤 성령의 상태인지를 드러냅니다. 우리가 영적으로 진솔할 때 그리한 일들을 통하여 성령이 빛을 발합니다.) "Drudgery is one of the finest tests to determine the genuineness of our character. Drudgery is work that is far removed from anything we think of as ideal work. It is the utterly hard, menial, tiresome, and dirty work. And when we experience it, our spirituality is instantly tested and we will know whether or not we are spiritually genuine.

(2078) (주님은 어부인 제자들의 발을 씻기시고 우리도 그리하여야 한다고 말씀하였습니다. 낮고 천해 보이는 일을 하는 할 때에도 주님이 함께하시면 빛나게 됩니다.) Read John 13. In this chapter, we see the Incarnate God performing the greatest example of drudgery—washing fishermen’s feet. He then says to them, “IF I then, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another’s feet” (John 13:14). The inspiration of God is required if drudgery is to shine with the light of God upon it. In some cases the way a person does a task makes that work sanctified and holy forever. It may be a very common everyday task, but after we have seen it done, it becomes different.

(2079) (주님이 우리를 통하여 일을 하시면 그 일을 하는 우리를 변화시키시고 거룩하게 만드십니다. 우리의 몸이 주님의 성령이 거하시는 성전이 됩니다.) When the Lord does something through us, He always transforms it. Our Lord takes our human flesh and transforms it, and now every believer's body has become "the temple of the Holy Spirit" (1 Corinthians 6:19).

God has given His commands to us, but we pay no attention to them-not because of willful disobedience, but because we no not truly love and respect Him.

“If you love Me, keep My commandments” (John 14:15). Once we realize we have constantly been showing disrespect to God, we will be filled with shame and humiliation for ignoring Him.

Why are we so terrified for God to speak to us? It is because we know that when God speaks we must either do what He asks or tell Him we will not obey. But if it is simply one of God's servants speaking to us, we feel obedience is optional, not imperative. We respond by saying, "Well, that's only your own idea, even though I don't deny that what you said is probably God's truth."

God's purpose may be to teach you to say, "I know how to be abased.." (Philippians 4:12). Are you ready to be sacrificed like that? Are you ready to be less than a mere drop in the bucket-to be totally insignificant that no one remembers you even if they think of those you served?

Jesus Christ has paved the way so that we can have access to enter boldly into the presence of the King of heaven (Heb. 4:16).

★ God’s throne is always accessible to His children.

He always comes using His authority and taking hold of our understanding. Has the voice of God come to you directly? If it has, you cannot mistake the intimate insistence with which it has spoken to you. God speaks in the language you know best-not through your ears, but through your circumstances.

We push His claims in the spirit of the devil; our words sound all right, but the spirit is that of an enemy. "He...rebuked them, and said, 'You do not know what manner of spirit you are of" (Luke 9:55). The spirit of our Lord in His followers is described in 1 Corinthians 13.

If I feel I have done my duty, yet have hurt Him in the process, I can be sure that this was not my duty. My way will not be to foster a meek and quiet spirit, only the spirit of self-satisfaction. We presume that whatever is unpleasant is our duty! Is that anything like the spirit of our Lord-"I delight to do Your will, O my God.."(Psalm 40:8).

In an act of impatience, a man in San Francisco, California, tried to beat traffic by swerving around a lane of cars that had come to a stop. However, the lane he pulled into had just been laid with fresh cement, and his Porsche 911 got stuck. This driver paid a high price for his impatience. 캘리포니아의 샌프란시스코에서 한 참을성 없는 남자가 교통체증을 피해가려고 멈춰 서있는 차량행렬 옆으로 차를 몰고 갔습니다. 그런데 그 남자가 들어선 옆 차선은 바로 전에 시멘트를 새로 부은 길이라 그의 포르쉐 911 스포츠카는 오도가도 못하게 되었습니다. 그 운전자는 참을성이 없는데 대한 대가를 톡톡히 치른 것입니다.

The Scriptures tell of a king who also paid a high price for his impatience. Eager for God to bless the Israelites in their battle against the Philistines, Saul acted impatiently. When Samuel did not arrive at the appointed time to offer a sacrifice for God’s favor, Saul became impatient and disobeyed God’s command (1 Sam. 13:8-9,13). Impatience led Saul to think he was above the law and to take on an unauthorized position of priest. He thought he could disobey God without serious consequences. He was wrong.

성경에서도 조급함 때문에 혹독한 대가를 치른 한 왕을 보여주고 있습니다. 블레셋과의 전쟁에서 이스라엘 군대에게 내리는 하나님의 축복을 초조하게 기다리던 사울왕은 조급하게 행동을 취하고 말았습니다. 사무엘이 하나님의 도움을 구하는 번제를 드리기 위해 정해진 시간에 나타나지 않자, 사울은 참지 못하고 하나님의 명령을 거역했습니다(사무엘상 13:8-9,13). 조급함은 사울로 하여금 자신이 율법보다 우위에 있다고 생각하게 만들었고, 결국 자신에게 부여되지 않은 제사장의 직분까지 맡게 했습니다. 그는 하나님을 거역해도 크게 문제되지 않을 거라고 여겼습니다. 그는 잘못 생각했던 것입니다.

When Samuel arrived, he rebuked Saul for his disobedience and prophesied that Saul would lose the kingdom (vv.13-14). Saul’s refusal to wait for the development of God’s plan caused him to act in haste, and in his haste he lost his way (see Prov. 19:2). His impatience was the ultimate display of a lack of faith.

사무엘은 그곳에 도착하여 사울의 불순종을 꾸짖으며 그가 이스라엘 왕국을 잃게 될 것이라고 예언했습니다(13-14절). 하나님의 계획이 점차 진행되어 가는 것을 기다리지 못했기 때문에 사울은 성급하게 행동했고, 결국 그로 인해 실족했던 것입니다(잠언 19:2 참조). 그의 성급함은 궁극적으로 믿음이 부족한 자의 모습을 보여주었습니다.

The Lord will provide His guiding presence as we wait patiently for Him to bring about His will.

하나님이 그분의 뜻을 이루시도록 우리가 인내하면서 기다릴 때, 하나님은 친히 임재하심으로 우리를 인도해주실 것입니다.

Tune your anxious heart to patience,

Walk by faith where sight is dim;

Loving God, be calm and trustful

And leave everything to Him.

조급한 마음을 인내에 맞추어서

앞이 어둡게 보일지라도 믿음으로 나아가세

하나님을 사랑하고 조용히 신뢰하면서

모든 것을 그분께 맡기세

Patience means awaiting God’s time (카이로스 vs 크로노스)

and trusting God’s love.

인내란 하나님의 때를 기다리고

하나님의 사랑을 신뢰하는 것을 의미한다.
