Romans 1 Lecture: About the Roman Church

샬롬! 로마서 제1강의 마지막 부분으로 로마교회에 대해서 같이 생각해 보고자 합니다. 제가 소속된 개신교는 로마서를 참으로 중요하게 생각하고 로마서를 성경의 다이아몬드라고 하는 분도 계십니다. 그런데 바울이 로마서를 보낸 로마교회에 대해서는 이들이 그렇게 많은 공부를 하지 않는 것 같습니다. 로마교회하면 우리는 그 교회가 흔히 천주교의 근본이 되는 교회로 생각하고, 또 베드로 대성당을 떠올리기도 합니다. 하지만 우리가 배울 로마교회는 바울이 로마서를 보낼 당시에 로마에 있는 교회로 한정해서 살펴볼 것입니다. 먼저 당시 로마의 모습을 여러 지도를 통해서 살펴보겠습니다.
Shalom! I would like to think about the Roman Church as the last part of Romans 1 Lecture. Protestants I belong to are very important to Romans and Romans are called Bible Diamonds.
However, it seems that they do not study so much about the Roman church where Paul wrote the Romans. In the Roman church, we think of the church as a church that is often the foundation of Catholicism, and also to think of Peter 's Cathedral.
But the Roman church we will learn will be limited to the church in Rome at the time of Paul's writing. First, let's take a look at the map of Rome through various maps.

1. 로마교회의 설립자
우선 로마서를 쓸 당시(서기 57년 경) 바울은 로마에 아직 가지 않은 상태이고 당연하게 로마에서 전도하고 교회를 세울 기회도 가지지 못했습니다. 그렇지만 성령의 감동으로 바울은 로마에 있는 교인들에게 편지를 보냈습니다. 당시에 로마에 성도들이 있었을 뿐만 아니라, 이들의 믿음이 온 세상에 알려지게 되었다는 것입니다. 여기서 온 세상은 1번 지도의 온 로마 전역이며 여기에 이들의 신앙생활이 알려지게 되었다라고도 이해가 될 것입니다. 당시의 교통의 사정상 세상에 이 정도로 알려지려면 상당한 수의 성도들이 로마에 존재해야 하고, 또 이들이 다른 사람에게 표가 날 정도로 교회 생활(초대 교회 예루살렘 교회의 신자의 생활 수준)을 잘 하고 있었다는 것을 알 수가 있습니다.
우리가 알기로 바울이 이방인의 교회를 여러 차례의 전도여행을 통해서 설립했다고 하는데 로마교회는 바울이 가보지도 못한 곳에 이렇게 온 세상의 사람이 알 정도로 신앙생활을 잘 하고 신자의 수도 상당하다고 하니 과연 이런 로마교회를 누가 설립을 했는지 궁금할 수가 있습니다. 여기에 대한 답은 마태복음 16장에 있습니다.
1. Founder of the Roman Church
First, at the time of the writing of Romans (around AD 57), Paul had not yet been to Rome, and of course he had no opportunity to preach in Rome and build a church. However, with the Holy Spirit's impressions, Paul sent letters to the members in Rome. Not only were there saints in Rome at the time, but their beliefs became known throughout the world. It is understood that the whole world here is the whole of Rome on map 1 and that their religious life has come to be known here. To be known to the world as a matter of traffic at the time, we knew that a great number of Saints had to be present in Rome and that they were doing well in church life (the level of life of believers in the early Church of Jerusalem) There is.
As we know, Paul has established the Gentile church through several evangelistic trips. However, the Roman church is a place where Paul has never been able to go, but here it is said that the people of all the world know well the faithful life and the number of believers is significant. We are curious as to who established this Roman church.

15. "But what about you?" he asked. "Who do you say I am?"
16. Simon Peter answered, "You are the Christ, the Son of the living God."
17. Jesus replied, "Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah, for this was not revealed to you by man, but by my Father in heaven.
18. And I tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it.(NIV)
교회의 반석이 베드로냐 베드로의 신앙고백이냐의 논쟁이 천주교와 개신교에 있지만, 이보다 더 중요한 것은 예수님께서 교회를 세우신다는 것입니다. 교회를 세우시는 이는 예수님이시고 로마교회도 당연히 예수님께서 세우신 교회입니다. 모든 교회는 예수님께서 세우시는 것입니다. 개인이 개척을 하여서 크게 부흥이 된다 해도 이도 역시 교회를 세우신 이는 예수님이십니다. 이를 잊으면 참으로 큰일이 납니다. 절대로 이런 사실을 잊지 말아야 할 것입니다.
The debate of whether the rock of the church is Peter or Peter's confession is in Catholicism and Protestantism, but more importantly, Jesus builds a church.
It is Jesus who sets up the church, and the Roman church is, of course, Jesus' church. All churches are founded by Jesus. Even if the individual is pioneered and greatly revived, it is Jesus who founded the church. If you forget this, it will be a big deal. You should never forget this fact.
2. 누가 교회를 성장시켰는가?
로마교회를 세우신 이가 예수님이심을 알게 되었다면, 과연 당시의 성도들을 당당한 신자와 신앙생활을 할 수 있게 과연 누가 교회를 질적으로 양적으로 성장을 시켰는가 하는 것이 또 궁금합니다. 바울은 서기 57년에 편지를 쓰면서 신령한 은사를 나누고 믿음으로 피차에 안위를 받고자 한다고 했습니다. 그런데 이미 온 세상에 소문이 난 교회가 존재했었으니 이를 이렇게 성장시키신 분이 누구인지 우리는 또 알아보아야 합니다. 여기에 대한 답도 성경에 있습니다. 우리가 잘 아는 사도행전 1장 8절의 말씀입니다.
2. Who raised the church?
If we knew that Jesus was the one who founded the Roman Church, we wonder who made the qualitative and quantitative growth of the Church so that the Saints of that time would be able to live a faithful life and a faithful life.
Paul wrote a letter in AD 57 and said he wanted to share spiritual gifts and to be comforted by his faith. But there was a church that was already rumored all over the world, so we need to know who has grown it.
The answer to this is also in the Bible. Acts 1: 8, which we know well.
8. 오직 성령이 너희에게 임하시면 너희가 권능을 받고 예루살렘과 온 유대와 사마리아와 땅 끝까지 이르러 내 증인이 되리라 하시니라(개역개정)
8. But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth."(NIV)
당시 로마에는 바울과 같은 성령을 받고서 복음을 전할 열의에 불타는 전도자들이 많이 있었습니다. 비록 바울이 로마에 가지 못했었어도, 이들이 약 20년 이상을 복음을 로마에 전했다고 한다면, 얼마나 많은 사람들에게 이들이 전도를 했겠습니까? 제가 다니는 교회의 두 여자 전도자는 매년 20-30여 명씩 전도를 하니 이 두 분만 20년을 전했다고 하면 약 500-1000명의 신자가 생기게 됩니다. 그런데 적어도 이 두 명보다는 훨씬 많은 성령 받은 전도자가 로마에 있었을 것으로 우리는 추측할 수 있습니다.
그것은 3번째 지도를 보면 오순절 날 온 나라로부터 온 유대인의 구성을 볼 수가 있습니다. 이들이 모여 있는 곳에서 베드로의 설교로 3천 명이 회개하고 예수님을 믿게 되고 또 나중에 5천 명이 또 믿게 되었다는 기록이 사도행전에 있습니다. 이들 중에 상당한 사람이 지도에서 보는 바와 같이 로마를 비롯해서 다양한 지역에 분포해 살던 유대인이었습니다.
There were many evangelists in Rome at that time who received the Holy Spirit like Paul and were burdened with the gospel. Even if Paul had not been to Rome, how many more would they have preached if they had spread the gospel to Rome for more than 20 years? Two evangelists in my church evangelize about 20-30 people each year, and if they are 20 years old, about 500-1000 believers will be born. We can speculate, however, that there would have been at least a Holy Spirit evangelist in Rome, at least more than these two.
It is possible to see the composition of the Jews from the whole country on the day of Pentecost when you look at the third map. In the gathering of these people there is a record in the book of Acts that Peter's sermon convicted 3,000, believed in Jesus, and later 5,000 believed. A considerable number of these were Jews who lived in various regions, including Rome, as shown on the map.
성령이 임하심이 오순절 날이고 이날에 온 세상으로부터 경건한 유대인이 예루살렘을 방문하였고 이들이 성령이 임한 120성도의 놀라운 변화 즉 자국의 말을 자유롭게 하는 것을 먼저 보고 들었습니다. 그리고 난 후에 베드로의 설교로 회개하고 세례를 받고 성령을 받았으니 이 모든 일에 전능하신 하나님의 빈틈없는 계획이 있었음을 알 수가 있습니다.
It was on the day of Pentecost that the Holy Spirit was coming, and on this day, the godly Jews from all over the world visited Jerusalem and saw that they had made the remarkable transformation of the 120 Saints, Then, after Peter's sermon repented, baptized, and received the Holy Spirit, we could see that there was a tidy plan of the Almighty God in all these things.
성령이 임하신 날이 오순절 날이고 이날에 온 세상으로부터 경건한 유대인이 예루살렘을 방문하였습니다. 이들이 성령이 임한 120 성도의 놀라운 변화를 즉 자국의 말을 이들이 자유롭게 하는 것을 먼저 보고 들었습니다. 그리고 난 후에 베드로의 설교로 이들이 회개하고 세례를 받고 성령을 받았으니 이 모든 일에 전능하신 하나님의 빈틈없는 계획이 있었음을 알 수가 있습니다.
On the day when the Holy Spirit came on the day of Pentecost, on this day a godly Jew from all over the world visited Jerusalem. They first saw and heard the amazing changes of the Holy Spirit's 120 Saints, that is, their freedom to speak their(A visiting Jew) own language. Then, after Peter's preaching, they were repented, baptized, and received the Holy Spirit, so that in all these things there was a clear plan of the Almighty God.
그리고 이들도 틀림없이 예루살렘 교회의 성도와 같이 유무상통하고 모이기를 힘쓰고 기도와 말씀을 늘 보며 하나님을 찬양했음이 틀림이 없습니다. 성령을 받은 사람은 틀림없이 그렇게 하기 되어 있기 때문이기도 하지만 이도 성령께서 교회를 주관하시고 인도하신 줄로 믿습니다. 그래서 주변의 칭송이 이어졌을 것이고 이것이 교회의 성장에 큰 힘이 되었을 것입니다.
비록 작은 이런 인간적인 노력이 있었을지라도 늘 교회의 성장과 성숙을 하나님의 손에 있음을 성경은 또 분명하게 말씀하십니다.
And they must have been like the saints of the church in Jerusalem, trying to be together(All the believers were together and had everything in common), gathering, praying and watching the Word all the time and praising God.
I am sure that the Holy Spirit has led and led the church, though it is because of the fact that the person who received the Holy Spirit must be doing so. So the surrounding praise would have been followed and this would have been a great force for the growth of the church. Even though there is a small human effort, the Bible clearly says that the growth and maturity of the church is always in the hands of God.
행 2:47. 하나님을 찬미하며 또 온 백성에게 칭송을 받으니 주께서 구원받는 사람을 날마다 더하게 하시니라
고전 3:6. 나는 심었고 아볼로는 물을 주었으되 오직 하나님께서 자라나게 하셨나니
7. 그런즉 심는 이나 물주는 이는 아무것도 아니로되 오직 자라게 하시는 이는 하나님뿐이니라
2:47. praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.
3:6 I planted the seed, Apollos watered it, but God made it grow.
7. So neither he who plants nor he who waters is anything, but only God, who makes things grow.
우리는 위의 사실을 통해서 교회를 세우시는 이는 예수님이시고 교회를 성장시키시는 이는 성령님이시고 또 성숙케 하시는 이 즉 자라게 하시는 이는 하나님이심을 잘 알 수가 있습니다.
우리는 교회의 이런 원리를 절대로 잊어서는 아니 될 것입니다. 인간의 노력이 더해질 수는 있으나 심고, 물을 주는 정도입니다. 전도자나 목사는 성령을 받고 권능을 받아서 비로소 수십 명 수백 명에게 전도도 하는 것입니다. 이들은 성령님께서 하신 일을 자신의 공으로 함부로 이야기해서도 아니 될 것입니다.
We know from the above facts that Jesus is the one who sets up the church, and the one who grows the church is the Holy Spirit and matures, and that it is God who grows up. We must never forget this principle of the church. Human effort can be added, but it is planting and giving water. The evangelist or minister receives the Holy Spirit, receives power, and then spreads to hundreds or even tens of people. They will not be able to talk about what the Holy Spirit has done with their own efforts.
3. 로마교회가 존재했기에 로마서도 존재한다.
바울이 복음을 전하던 당시에, 로마에 교회가 존재하지 아니하고 또 성도가 없었다면 당연히 바울이 로마에 보내는 편지를 쓰지 않았을 것입니다. 바울이 쓴 로마서의 존재는 로마교회를 전제로 비롯되는 것이고, 로마교회는 하나님께서 설립하시고 하나님께서 성장시킨 교회입니다. 따라서 로마교회에 대해서 잘 잘 연구해야 함은 물론, 로마서도 같이 잘 연구를 해야 합니다. 우리가 로마교회를 등한시하면서 바울의 로마서만 주장해서도 아니 될 것입니다. 로마 교회와 로마서는 언제나 같이 붙어 다녀야 할 것입니다.
3. The Romans existed because the Roman Church existed.
At the time Paul preached the gospel, if there was no church in Rome and no saints, Paul would not have written a letter to Rome. The existence of the Romans written by Paul is based on the premise of the Roman church, and the Roman church is the church founded by God and grown by God. Therefore, not only must we study well the Roman church, but also we must study Romans as well. As we neglect the Roman church, we will not claim Paul's Romans. The Roman church and Romans will always have to stick together.
이 로마 교회에 어떤 사람들이 구체적으로 존재했는지는 모든 사람을 알 수는 없으나 앞 시간에 살펴본 로마서 16장에 등장하는 사람들 즉 뵈뵈나 브리스 길라 아굴라 등의 인물들이 중심적이 교회의 인물들이었을 것입니다. 그리고 많은 성령 받은 신실한 전도자와 올바른 신앙인이 있었음을 있었을 것입니다. 바울은 먼저 편지(로마서를 통해서)로 영적인 은사를 나누고 나중에 로마로 압송이 되어서 복음을 전했다고 한다.
I do not know anyone who was specific to this Roman church, but I would like to point out that some of the characters in the Romans chapter 16, such as Phoebe and Brisigila Aquila, were the central figures of the church. There would have been many faithful evangelists and righteous believers who received Holy Spirit. Paul first said that he shared spiritual gifts in letters (through Romans), and later was sent to Rome to preach the gospel.
이때에 바울은 로마에 사는 많은 성도들과 기쁨을 교제를 나누었을 것이고 교인들은 이방인의 사도요, 예수님의 종인 바울에 대해서 합당한 존경과 사랑을 베풀었을 것으로 우리는 믿는다. 베드로에 대해선 천주교의 기록을 보는 방법 외에 별로 공부할 방법이 보이지 않는다.
At this time, we believe that Paul would have enjoyed fellowship with many of the saints who lived in Rome, and that the members had given proper respect and love to Paul, an apostle of the Gentiles and servant of Jesus. For Peter, there is no way to study other than to see the Catholic records.
그러나 요한이 베드로에 대해 예수님께 물었을 때, 예수님께서 베드로가 젊어서는 자신이 원하는 삶을 살지만 늙어서는, 하나님께서 인도하시는 데로 그가 살 것이라고 말씀을 하셨습니다. 그리고 베드로는 예수님의 가장 큰 제자로서, 예수님으로부터 예수님의 양을 먹이고, 치라고 하시는 명령을 들었습니다. 또 과거에 큰 실수가 있었던 베드로 사도께서 64년 네로의 박해 시 성도들이 죽는 것을 보면서 홀로 살겠다고 그 박해의 현장을 절대로 벗어나지 않았음을 믿습니다. 베드로 사도는 성도들과 함께 고난을 받았을 것이라는 것을 저는 믿어 의심치 않습니다.
But when John asked Jesus about Peter, Jesus told John that when Peter was young, he would live the life he wanted, but when he was old, he would live as God would lead. And Peter, as Jesus 'greatest disciple, heard a command from Jesus to feed and take care of Jesus' lambs. And I believe that the apostle Peter, who had made a great mistake in the past, did not leave the scene of persecution to live alone when he saw the saints die during the persecution of Nero in 64. I do not doubt that Peter would have suffered with the Saints.
그리고 위의 행전 1장 8절에서 성령을 받은 사람은 반드시 땅 끝으로 가게 되어 있습니다.
현시대에 대형교회의 담임으로서 성령을 받았다고 주장하면서도 땅 끝으로 가지 않고 큰 교회 속에서 안주하는 이들과 같은 삶을, 베드로 사도는 절대로 살지를 않았을 것입니다. 예루살렘 교회 속에서 안주하며 성도들의 대접을 받으며 어려운 교인을 외면하면서 현시대의 목사와 같은 삶을 베드로 사도는 절대로 살지 않았을 것임을 저는 굳게 믿습니다.
And in Acts 1: 8 above, those who receive the Holy Spirit must go to the ends of the earth. It would not have been possible for the apostle Peter to live a life like those who claim to have received the Holy Spirit as a teacher of a large church in the present age but who do not go to the ends of the earth and settle in a large church. I firmly believe that the apostle Peter would never have lived like a pastor in the present age, resting in Jerusalem's Church, being well treated by the Saints, ignoring the difficult members of church
참으로 이들은 자신이 분명하게 성령을 받았다고 그들의 입만 열면 큰 소리를 치지만, 성령을 받은 사람들의 최후와는 너무나 다른 모습의 삶을 살아가고 있습니다. 또 그들은 사도행전의 말씀 즉 땅 끝으로 가서 예수님의 증인이 될 것이라는 하나님의 말씀을, 너무나 외면하고 있습니다. 그리고 그들은 어디엔가 굳게 붙어서 절대로 떨어지지 않을 모양으로 살고 있습니다. 이들이 우리 주변에서 가난한 성도보다 비교도 할 수 없이 하나님의 돈으로 부유하게 잘 살아가고 있습니다. 북한으로 가고 외국으로 가야 하실 분들이 성령을 인도하심을 외면한 채, 깊은 물질의 늪과 사람들의 둘러싸임 속에서 헤어 나오지 못하고 있으면서 여전히 입으로만 아침부터 저녁까지 분주합니다.
Yea, when they open their mouths that they have received the Holy Spirit, they are loud, but they live a very different life from the end of those who receive the Holy Spirit. And they are so ignorant of the Word of God that they will go to the end of the earth, to be the witness of Jesus. And they live in a shape where they will never fall apart. They are living wealthily in the vicinity of us with the money of God, which is incomparably more than the poor saints. Those who need to go to North Korea and go abroad should not be able to get out of the swamp of deep substance and the people's surroundings while still ignoring the guidance of the Holy Spirit.

만약에 서울에 살면서 성령을 받은 사람은 서울과 온 경기지역과 남한 전역과 북한과 그리고 땅 끝까지 이르러 내 증인이 되리라 하시니라로 해석이 가능합니다. 혹 부산에서 성령을 받은 분은 부산과 경상도 전역과 남한 전역 그리고 북한과 땅 끝까지 이르러 내 증인이 되리라고 설명을 할 수가 있습니다. 그리고 땅 끝은 외국에 가게 되는 것입니다.
If you live in Seoul and receive the Holy Spirit, you will be a witness to Seoul, the whole Gyeonggi area, the whole of South Korea, North Korea, and the ends of the earth. I can explain that the person who received the Holy Spirit in Busan will be Jesus’s witness to Busan, Gyeongsang Province, South Korea, North Korea and the ends of the earth. And the end of the earth is to go abroad.
모든 성령을 받은 자가 이런 증인의 삶을 살아야 합니다. 초대 교회 성도는 이렇게 살았습니다. 그리고 안디옥 교회의 바울과 바나바도 이렇게 살았고 로마교회의 성도들도 당시의 박해에 순교를 견뎠습니다.
All who receive the Holy Spirit must live the lives of these witnesses. The early church saints lived like this. Paul and Barnabas of Antioch Church also lived like this, and the saints of the Roman Church also endured martyrdom at the time of persecution.
한국에 복음 들어와서 역시 유교와 큰 충돌로 100년 동안 1만 명 이상이 순교를 했습니다. 이런 전통에 1907년 성령이 장대현 교회에 사도행전의 마가 다락방과 같이 임하고 폭발적인 교회의 성장이 성령을 받은 전도자에 의해서 일어났습니다.
In the Gospel of Korea, more than 10,000 people martyred for 100 years because of conflict with Confucianism. In this tradition, in 1907, the Holy Spirit came to the church of Jang Dae-Hyun as the Acts and the explosive growth of the Church was caused by the Holy Spirit's evangelist.
그리고 일본에 의한 조선의 멸망이 있고 일제의 억압 속에 들어가게 되었습니다. 이렇게 형성된 교회의 목자가 일제의 탄압에 신사참배를 결의하게 되었습니다. 그리고 또 6.25의 비극이 발생하고 수많은 사람이 죽었고 또다시 60년 이상의 국가적인 평안이 보장되었습니다.
And there was the destruction of Joseon by Japan, and it came under Japanese repression. The shepherd of the church thus formed decided to go to the shrine for the oppression of the Japanese imperialists. And there was also a tragedy of 6.25, a lot of people were killed and another national peace was guaranteed for over 60 years.
그리고 우리는 또 물질에 찌든 목자의 잘못을 또 보고 있습니다. 그들이 자신들이 자행한 과거의 추한 행동에 대한 반성도 없이 살만해지니깐 모든 누구보다도 앞서서 죄를 자행하는 모습을 우리는 보고 있습니다. 목자가 타락하면 큰 불행이 올 수가 있습니다. 참으로 우리는 이들을 경계하고 권면하고 이들이 악에서 돌아오게 이들의 주변의 모든 분이 노력을 해야 합니다.
그리고 모든 성령을 받은 전도자는 주변에 성령의 인도로 묵묵히 복음을 전하며 구원을 이룹니다. 참으로 많은 어려움을 견디며 한 영혼을 구원해 냅니다.
이 구원받은 성도가 교회를 형성합니다. 예수님의 머리 되신 교회의 지체에 불과한 대형교회의 목자의 잘못된 행위로 모든 기독교가 욕을 먹는 현실입니다. 모든 성도가 올바른 영적인 진리를 알아서 이를 분별하고 경계하며 이들을 선한 길로 인도해야 될 줄로 믿습니다. 가을에 맹렬히 복음의 진리를 공부하시기 바랍니다. 그리고 이들이 한국에서 모든 활동을 중지하고 속히 외국으로 선교를 떠나게 모든 성도가 기도하고 권면해야 합니다.
And we are also seeing the wrong of the shepherd who stuck to the matter. We are seeing that they are guilty of sin before anyone else because they are livable without reflection on their past ugly behavior. If the shepherd falls, a great misfortune can come. Indeed, we must be vigilant and exhorted, and everyone around them must make an effort to bring them back from evil.
And the evangelist who received all the Holy Spirit is quietly delivering the gospel and being saved by the guidance of the Holy Spirit around him. Indeed, it sustains many difficulties and saves one soul.
This saved Saints form the Church. It is a reality that all Christianity abuses by the wrong act of the shepherd of a large church which is only the member of the church which is the head of Jesus. I believe that all the saints will know the right spiritual truth, discern and watch it, and guide them in the good way. Please study the truths of the gospel in the fall. And all the saints should pray and exhort them to stop all activities in Korea and to go abroad for missions soon.
