Long ago there lived an old man with a huge lump on his face. Children teased him all the time, but he just smiled back at them.
Child1: Here comes Mr. Lumpy!
Child2: Yeah, his lump is really huge and bumpy!!!
Child3: Mr. Bumpy!!!
Child1: Mr. Lumpy!!!
Child2: Let's call him Mr. Bumpy Lumpy!!! (울퉁불퉁 혹부리라고 부르자!)

옛날에 얼굴에 커다란 혹을 달고 있는 할아버지가 살았어요. 동네 아이들이 매일 놀렸지만 할아버지는 그냥 웃어 넘겼답니다.
아이1: 혹부리 영감 납신다!
아이2: 혹이 정말 크고 울퉁불퉁하다!!!
아이3: 울퉁불퉁 영감!!!
아이1: 혹부리 영감!!!
아이2: 울퉁불퉁 혹부리 영감이라고 부르자!!!

The old man not only had a warm heart but also a beautiful voice. He liked to sing and people liked to listen to him sing.
Villager 1: Sing us a song.

마을사람2: 그래요, 당신의 그 아름다운 목소리 좀 들어봅시다.
영감: 물론이지요! 어떤 노래를 듣고 싶으신가요?
아주머니1: "달님 노래" 가 어떨까요?
아주머니2: 맞아! 그 노래가 좋더라.
영감: 좋아요! 불러드리지요.

The old man always sang while he chopped wood in the mountains. All the little animalscame out and listened.
Old man: "Let's Chop! Chop some wood!
Chop! Chop! Chop!

It's a nice day to chop some wood!

Rabbit: Where is that song coming from?
Squirrel: Look over there!
It must be that old man with the huge lump on his face.
Deer: Let's go closer and find out.

영감은 산에서 나무를 배을 때도 항상 노래를 불렀답니다. 산속작은 동물들이 나와선 듣곤 했지요.
영감: "자르자! 나무를 자르자!

토끼: 저 노래 소리가 어디서 들려 오는 거지?
다람쥐: 저쪽이야!
혹부리 영감이 분명해.
사슴: 더 가까이 가서 알아보자
다람쥐: 맞아! 혹부리 영감이 저 아름다운 노래를 부르는 거야
너무나도 아름다운 목소리야.

The old man kept singing and chopping. Then he got tired and fell asleep. When he woke up, it was already nightfall.
Old Man: OH MY GOSH!
I must get home, but it's so dark here in the mountains.
I can't find my way.
I think I am lost.
I must find a place to stay for the night.
영감은계속해서 노래를 부르면서 나무를 베었습니다. 그러자 피곤해서 잠이 들었어요. 깨어났을 때는 이미 밤 이였지요.
영감: 맙소사! 집에 가야 하는데 산속이 너무 어둡군
길을 찾을 수가 없네
길을 잃은 것 같은데.

The old man wandered in the mountains. It was getting darker and darker and also very cold. Suddenly, he saw a small light far away.
Old Man: Oh, it's getting very cold.
I'd better find a place to stay soon.

I see a light!

The old man ran to the house. The house was very old and shabby. He knocked at the door but there was no answer.

영감은산속을 헤매었습니다. 점점 더 어두워져 갔고 또한 몹시 추워졌습니다. 갑자기, 저 멀리 작은 불빛이 보였습니다.
영감: 몹시 추워지는데.
빨리 머무를 곳을 찾아야겠어.
어, 저기 좀 봐!
불빛이 보이네! 다행이군!!!
영감은 집으로 달려갔습니다. 아주 오래된 낡은 집이었습니다. 문을 두드렸지만 대답이 없었습니다.

The old man decided to go inside the house and stay for the night.
Suddenly, thunder and lightning began to strike. The old man felt a little scared. (우르르 꽝광!!! )
Old man: A storm must be passing by.
Thank goodness, I found this house.
But it's a little scary in here.
I hope it's not a haunted house.
I'd better sing a song to feel better.

영감은 집안에 들어가서 밤을 지새우기로 했습니다. 갑자기, 천둥번개가 치기 시작했습니다.
영감은 조금 겁이 났습니다.
영감: 폭풍우가 자나가려나 보군.
이 집을 찾은 것이 천만다행이네.
하지만 이 안이 조금 으시시하네.
귀신이 사는 집이 아니어야 할 텐데.
노래를 불러서 기분전환을 해야겠다.

The old man kept singing to feel less scared. Goblins were passing by the house. They heard the old man's song from outside.
Goblin1: Where is that song coming from?
Goblin 2: Who is singing this beautiful song?
Goblin 3: It's coming from inside that house!

영감은겁을 덜 내려고 계속 노래를 불렀답니다. 도깨비들이 집을 지나가고 있었습니다. 밖에서 영감의 노래를 들었습니다.
도깨비1: 저 노래가 어디서 들려 오는 거지?
도깨비2: 아름다운 노래를 누가 부르는 거지?
도깨비3: 저 집안에서 들려오는 것 같은데! 들어가서 알아보자.

The goblins went inside the house and found the old man with the huge lump on his face singing. The old man was startled when he saw the goblins.
Old Man: Oh my gosh! Goblins!!!
Please don't hurt me!
I just came inside to stay for one night.
Goblin 1: Don't worry, old man.

Goblin 2: We just came in to hear your song.
Goblin 3: Go ahead and sing.
도깨비들이 집안에 들어가자 혹부리 영감이 노래 부르는 것을 발견합니다.
영감은 도깨비들을 보자 화들짝 놀랍니다.
영감: 맙소사! 도깨비들이다! 제발 저를 헤치지 마세요.
저는 그저 하루 밤 지낼 려고 들어온 것뿐 입니다.
도깨비1: 걱정 마시오, 영감.
우리는 당신을 헤치지 않을 것입니다.
도깨비2: 당신 노래를 들으려고 들어온 것뿐 입니다.
도깨비3: 어서 노래를 계속하시지요.

The old man started to sing and the goblins started to dance. They sang and danced till
dawn. The sun was about to come up.
영감은노래를 부르기 시작했고 도깨비들은 춤을 추기 시작했습니다. 새벽까지 노래 부르고 춤을 추었답니다. 해가 뜨려고 했습니다.
Goblin 1: We must go now, old man.
Goblin 2: Before we go, tell us where the beautiful songs come from?
Goblin 3: Do they come from that huge lump on your face?
Old Man: No, no.
They come from my voice.

On the other side of the mountain lived another old man with a huge lump on his face.
He was very greedy and grumpy. He chased after all the children that teased him.

Grumpy Old Man: I want to get rid of this lump and get rich too.
