* Chapter 10-1. Ephesians 1(에베소서 1장) *
Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus by the will of God, To the saints in Ephesus, the faithful in Christ Jesus:
- 하나님의 뜻을 따라 그리스도 예수의 사도가 된 나 바울은 에베소에 있는 성도들과 그리스도 예수 안에 있는 신실한 사람들에게 편지를 씁니다.
Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
- 하나님 우리 아버지와 주 예수 그리스도의 은혜와 평강이 여러분에게 있기를 빕니다.
Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ.
- 하나님, 곧 우리 주 예수 그리스도의 아버지를 찬양합니다. 하나님은 그리스도 안에서 하늘에 속한 모든 신령한 복으로 우리에게 복을 주신 분이십니다.
For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight. In love
- 하나님은 세상이 창조되기 전에 그리스도 안에서 우리를 선택하셔서 사랑 가운데 그 앞에 거룩하고 흠이 없게 하셨습니다.
he predestined us to be adopted as his sons through Jesus Christ, in accordance with his pleasure and will--
- 하나님은 그분의 기뻐하시는 뜻을 따라 우리를 예정하셔서 예수 그리스도로 말미암아 하나님의 양자가 되게 하셨습니다.
to the praise of his glorious grace, which he has freely given us in the One he loves.
- 이는 하나님이 그분의 사랑하시는 아들 안에서 우리에게 거저 주신 하나님 은혜의 영광을 찬미하게 하기 위한 것입니다.
In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God's grace
- 그리스도 안에서 우리는 하나님의 은혜의 풍성함을 따라 그분의 피로 구속, 곧 죄 사함을 얻었습니다.
that he lavished on us with all wisdom and understanding.
- 하나님은 우리에게 모든 지혜와 총명을 넘치게 하셔서
And he made known to us the mystery of his will according to his good pleasure, which he purposed in Christ,
- 그리스도 예수 안에서 미리 세우신 하나님이 기뻐하시는 뜻을 따라 하나님의 뜻의 비밀을 우리에게 알리셨습니다.
to be put into effect when the times will have reached their fulfillment--to bring all things in heaven and on earth together under one head, even Christ.
- 이는 때가 차면 그리스도 안에서 하늘에 있는 것들과 땅에 있는 것들을 모두 통일시키고자 하는 것입니다.
In him we were also chosen, having been predestined according to the plan of him who works out everything in conformity with the purpose of his will,
- 그리스도 안에서 그분이 원하시는 의도대로, 모든 일을 행하시는 분의 계획에 따라 우리가 예정함을 입어 유업을 얻었는데
in order that we, who were the first to hope in Christ, might be for the praise of his glory.
- 이는 그리스도 안에서 먼저 소망을 가진 우리로 하여금 하나님의 영광을 찬미하게 하기 위한 것입니다.
And you also were included in Christ when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation. Having believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit,
- 그리고 여러분도 그리스도 안에서 진리의 말씀, 곧 여러분을 위한 구원의 복음을 듣고 또한 그리스도 안에서 믿어 약속하신 성령으로 인치심을 받았습니다.
who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God's possession--to the praise of his glory.
- 이 성령은 우리의 유업의 보증이 되시는데 이는 하나님의 소유된 백성을 구속하기 위함이며 또한 하나님의 영광을 찬미하도록 하기 위한 것입니다.
For this reason, ever since I heard about your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love for all the saints,
- 그러므로 주 예수 안에 있는 여러분의 믿음과 모든 성도들을 향한 사랑의 소식을 나도 듣고
I have not stopped giving thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers.
- 내가 기도할 때마다 여러분을 생각하며 여러분으로 인해 감사하기를 그치지 않습니다.
I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better.
- 우리 주 예수 그리스도의 하나님 영광의 아버지께서 여러분에게 지혜와 계시의 영을 주셔서 하나님을 알게 하시기를 기도합니다.
I pray also that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints,
- 그가 여러분의 마음눈을 밝게 하셔서 하나님의 부르심의 소망이 무엇이며 성도 가운데 있는 하나님의 유업의 영광의 풍성함이 무엇이며
and his incomparably great power for us who believe. That power is like the working of his mighty strength,
- 하나님의 힘의 능력의 역사하심을 따라 믿는 우리를 위해 베푸신 하나님의 지극히 크신 권능이 어떠한지 여러분으로 알게 하시기를 기도합니다.
which he exerted in Christ when he raised him from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly realms,
- 하나님께서는 그리스도 안에서 그 권능을 행하셔서 그리스도를 죽은 사람들 가운데서 살리셨고 하늘에 있는 그분 오른편에 앉히셔서
far above all rule and authority, power and dominion, and every title that can be given, not only in the present age but also in the one to come.
- 모든 권력과 권세와 권능과 주권과 이 세대뿐 아니라 오는 세대에서 일컫는 모든 이름들보다 뛰어나게 하셨습니다.
And God placed all things under his feet and appointed him to be head over everything for the church,
- 그리고 하나님께서는 만물을 그리스도의 발아래 복종하게 하시고 그리스도를 만물 위에 교회의 머리로 삼으셨습니다.
which is his body, the fullness of him who fills everything in every way.
- 교회는 그리스도의 몸이요, 만물 안에서 만물을 충만하게 하시는 분의 충만입니다.

* Chapter 10-1. Daily Bread *
A selfless life reaps an eternal harvest.
- 이기심 없는 삶은 영원한 수확을 거둬들입니다.
selfless a. 이기심 없는.
reap v. (농작물 등을) 수확하다, 거둬들이다.
harvest n. 수확.
I like to read, and I enjoy buying books.
- 나는 읽기를 좋아하고, 책을 사는 것을 즐긴다.
But I don't like it / when publishers refer to me as a "consumer."
- 그러나 나는 별로 좋아하지 않는다 / 출판업자들이 나를 “소비자”라고 언급하는 것을.

consumer n. 소비자.
The word consume / can mean "do away with completely" or "spend wastefully."

It brings to mind forest fires / that devour acre after acre of vegetation, leaving behind only scorched remnants of trees and homes.

When we read books, we don't consume them in that sense, for they don't cease to exist after we've used them.

In fact, quite the opposite is true.

Jesus said / that when His words abide in us, we will bear much fruit (John 15:5-8).

abide in : ~곁에 있다.

In other words, we will be creators, not consumers; givers, not takers.

The apostle Paul referred to Christians as "God's fellow workers" (1 Cor. 3:9), / who are to build things that cannot be consumed / in the fire of God's judgment of their works (vv. 13-15).

(82) Death seems like the last and greatest enemy. / But the good news / is that in jesus' resurrection God has provided the solution to death and to the fear of death.

(83) In spite of the constant activity of communication, / people are still desperately alone. / There is communication but no real community. / They are never alone, but they are very lonely.

(84) The Lord's prayer does not say, "Thy kingdom come in heaven." / It says, "Thy kingdom come on earth, even as it is in heaven." / God works to accomplish his will for the earth.

(85) God's final judgment is a necessary expression! of His holy justice. He can't turn a blind eye to sin.
