잔디밭에서 바늘 찾기 

It's like looking for a needle in a haystack. 

잃어버렸거나 숨겨진 물건이 주변 배경에 가려 특히 찾기 어려운 경우에 인용되는 속담이다. 

내가 찾는 문서가 지하실에 놓아둔 서류 상자에 있는 게 분명하지만 잔디밭에서 바늘 찾기가

될 것같아 찾을 엄두가 나지 않는다. 

I knew the document I wanted was somewhere in the boxes of papers I kept in the basement,

but I dreaded the search. It would be like looking for a needle in a haystack.
