읽고 말하기
단추가 많아서 불편해요.
수잔 씨가 토요일 오후에 백화점 옷가게에서 예쁜 옷을 봤어요.
그 옷은 값이 비쌌지만 그런 옷을 한 번 입어 보고 싶어서 샀어요.
그런데 집에 가서 옷을 다시 입어 볼 때 단추가 많아서 불편했어요.
수잔 씨는 다음 날 오후에 백화점에 다시 가서 그 옷을 환불 받으려고 했어요.
그런데 환불 받으려면 영수증이 필요했어요.
그래서 수잔 씨는 영수증을 찾으러 집으로 돌아갔어요.
수잔 씨는 집에 가서 영수증을 찾아봤어요.
그런데 영수증은 옷장에도 없고 가방에도 없었어요.
그때 갑자기 생각이 났어요.
수잔 씨가 쓰레기를 버릴 때 종이들도 다 버렸어요.
며칠 후에 수잔 씨는 백화점에 다시 가서 백화점 직원한테 말했어요.
"영수증을 못 찾았어요. 어떻게 하지요?"
백화점 직원은 영수증이 없으면 환불받을 수 없어요.
그러니까 다른 옷으로 바꾸세요. 라고 말했어요.
그래서 이번에 수잔 씨는 편한 옷을 골랐어요.
그 옷이 수잔 씨한테 잘 어울렸어요.
수잔 씨는 그 옷을 입고 백화점에서 나왔어요.
백화점에서 나올 때 마음이 가벼웠어요.
Reading and Speaking
There are too many buttons, so it’s uncomfortable.
Susan saw a pretty outfit at a department store clothing shop on Saturday afternoon.
It was expensive, but she wanted to try wearing something like that at least once,
so she bought it.
However, when she tried it on again at home,
it felt uncomfortable because it had too many buttons.
The next afternoon, Susan went back to the department store to get a refund.
But she needed the receipt to get a refund.
So she went home to look for the receipt.
She checked her closet and her bag, but the receipt wasn’t there.
Then suddenly she remembered —
— she had thrown out all the papers when she took out the trash.
A few days later, she returned to the department store and said to a staff member:
“I couldn’t find the receipt. What should I do?”
The staff said,
“If you don’t have the receipt, we can’t give you a refund.
But you can exchange it for another item.”
So this time, Susan chose a more comfortable outfit.
It looked great on her.
Susan wore the new clothes as she left the department store.
She felt much lighter as she walked out.
