Paulownia Flower

While I was coming down Mt. Dobong
Someone called me.
Wondering who
She was a paulownia tree.
She had lavender flower lanterns
Hanging all over her body
Brightening up the evening dusk.
The paulownia tree said to me
Take all the flower lanterns.
I picked the lanterns one by one
With my eyes
And put them in my heart.
Then,
As soon as I got on the train at Dobongsan Station
I handed them out to people.
Tonight,
instead of electric lights
Light up the house
With paulownia flower lanterns.
Brighten up
The hearts of our family members.

도봉산을 내려오고 있는데
누가 불렀습니다
누군가 했더니
오동나무였습니다
연보라빛 꽃등을
온 몸에 주렁주렁 달고
저녁 어스름을
밝히고 있었습니다
오동나무는 내게
꽃등을 모두
가져 가라 했습니다
나는 꽃등을
하나씩
눈으로 따 내려
마음 속에다
집어 넣었습니다
그리고는 도봉산역에서
전철을 타자마자
사람들에게 나누어주었습니다
오늘 저녁엔 전깃불 대신
오동꽃 꽃등으로
집안을 밝혀 보라고
식구들의 가슴도
환하게 밝혀 보라고.
