I've never heard anyone say that, no.
I would also argue the meanings are different. "I'll be away in ten minutes" means "I won't be here ten minutes from now (but I might leave at any time between now and then)" but "I will leave in ten minutes" means "I will be here for another ten minutes, and then I will leave."
No one would say it that way.
“I’ll be away” is describing a future state not a future action.
Furthermore, it does not indicate when you leave. We only know that you will be gone within 10 minutes.
people use the word away in the context of work and their computers. so for example, if I have a computer station set up in my office cubicle and people send me messages on it, "away" is a status that people can set when they don't have access to their computer, maybe because they went to the bathroom or whatever. so if you said I'll be away in 10 minutes, I would interpret that to mean your status on your instant messaging or work messaging app will be set to away in 10 minutes.
if you're talking about it in a non-work messaging or instant messaging situation, no one would say away to mean leave. also, people don't frequently say I will leave in 10 minutes. they say I'm leaving in 10 minutes
Is “the status will be set to away in ten minutes” the same as “the status will be set to away for ten minutes”?
