I thought that's what the Korean expression means in essence. For example, if the shipping cost is $500 for a $300 computer, we can say 'It's not worth it'. Or am I not getting the exact nuance of the Korean expression?

Well, to me, "it's not worth it" to me does not quite deliver the nuance of "배보다 배꼽이 더 크다" expression although I agree that it means the same in essence.

I don't think there are any old sayings or idiomatic expressions that capture exactly the same nuance. We'll just have to put some words together to come up with something close. How about 'It's a case where a part gets bigger than the whole'? Or we can use an analogy and say 'You don't want to tear down the whole house to fix a loof leak.'
