1 A good name is better than fine perfume, and the day of death better than the day of birth. 2 It is better to go to a house of mourning than to go to a house of feasting, for death is the destiny of every man; the living should take this to heart. 3 Sorrow is better than laughter, because a sad face is good for the heart. 4 The heart of the wise is in the house of mourning, but the heart of fools is in the house of pleasure. 5 It is better to heed a wise man's rebuke than to listen to the song of fools. 6 Like the crackling of thorns under the pot, so is the laughter of fools. This too is meaningless. 7 Extortion turns a wise man into a fool, and a bribe corrupts the heart. 8 The end of a matter is better than its beginning, and patience is better than pride. 9 Do not be quickly provoked in your spirit, for anger resides in the lap of fools. 10 Do not say, "Why were the old days better than these?" For it is not wise to ask such questions. 11 Wisdom, like an inheritance, is a good thing and benefits those who see the sun. 12 Wisdom is a shelter as money is a shelter, but the advantage of knowledge is this: that wisdom preserves the life of its possessor. 13 Consider what God has done: Who can straighten what he has made crooked? 14 When times are good, be happy; but when times are bad, consider: God has made the one as well as the other. Therefore, a man cannot discover anything about his future. 15 In this meaningless life of mine I have seen both of these: a righteous man perishing in his righteousness, and a wicked man living long in his wickedness. 16 Do not be over righteous, neither be over wise--why destroy yourself? 17 Do not be over wicked, and do not be a fool--why die before your time? 18 It is good to grasp the one and not let go of the other. The man who fears God will avoid all extremes. 19 Wisdom makes one wise man more powerful than ten rulers in a city. 20 There is not a righteous man on earth who does what is right and never sins. 21 Do not pay attention to every word people say, or you may hear your servant cursing you-- 22 for you know in your heart that many times you yourself have cursed others. 23 All this I tested by wisdom and I said, "I am determined to be wise"--but this was beyond me. 24 Whatever wisdom may be, it is far off and most profound--who can discover it? 25 So I turned my mind to understand, to investigate and to search out wisdom and the scheme of things and to understand the stupidity of wickedness and the madness of folly. 26 I find more bitter than death the woman who is a snare, whose heart is a trap and whose hands are chains. The man who pleases God will escape her, but the sinner she will ensnare. 27 "Look," says the Teacher, "this is what I have discovered: "Adding one thing to another to discover the scheme of things-- 28 while I was still searching but not finding--I found one upright man among a thousand, but not one upright woman among them all. 29 This only have I found: God made mankind upright, but men have gone in search of many schemes."
1절 ‘A good name is better than fine perfume’
좋은 향수향기(香水香氣)보다 선하다 사람들에게 인식되어 칭송(稱頌)받는 것이
더욱 좋다는 내용으로 받아들여진다
‘the day of death better than the day of birth’
탄생일(誕生日)보다 죽음의 날이 더 좋다는 말은
생로병사흥망성쇠화복(生老病死興亡盛衰禍福)의 시달림의 마침표를 찍고 영생천국(永生天國) 본향(本鄕) 곧 신천신지(新天新地)의 문을 열고 들어가는 날이 더 좋다는 내용으로 받아들여진다
3절 ‘Sorrow is better than laughter, because a sad face is good for the heart’
이 구절을 통해서는 마음의 슬픔을 감추고 겉으로는 밝은 척 하는...아무 일 없는 것처럼 행동하는 그 모습이 떠올려지며
그래서 더욱 피폐(疲弊)의 수렁으로 빠져 들어가는 그 어떤 존재의 모습이 투영된다
하지만 실컷 울고나면
속에 있는 슬픔과 괴로움이 해소되니
그래서 3절의 언급이 나온 것 같다
그런데 오늘 아주 강하게 내 눈의 문을 열고 들어 온 구절은 21절
‘Do not pay attention to every word people say,’
사람들의 말에 너무 신경쓰지 말라는 표현
살다보면
남들이 나를 어떻게 생각하고 말하는가에 신경이 쓰일 때가 있다
그러나 실망(失望) 좌절(挫折) 고통과 신음의 늪에서 허우적 거릴때가 얼마나 많았던가
어차피 나는 불완전한 존재
하여 실수(失手) 실패(失敗)를 지나 죄(罪)의 나락으로 언제든지 떨어질 수 잇는 존재
누군가에게는 내 부족이 신경이 쓰여 나에 대한 지적을 하는 것은 어찌보면 당연지사(當然之事)
그러니 시선을 사람이 아닌 하나님을 향하고
하나님의 말씀을 향하고
오직 주만 바라보며 성령의 인도하심 따라 살기로 목표를 정하고 살아가는 것이 지혜...
그리고 또 눈에 들어 온 26절
‘I find more bitter than death the woman who is a snare’
왕상11:3을 보면 솔로몬은 후궁700+첩300
국가의 안전과 번영을 위해 한 정략결혼(政略結婚)이었는데...
결국 제가 놓은 덫에 제가 걸린 격의 불행을 겪었음을
표현하는 것임을 알 수 있다
생각해 보면
나는 행복자
나의 일편단심(一片丹心)을 알아주시는 하나님께 오늘도 주님을 향한 예배를 드려야 하겠다는 생각으로 오늘이라는 빛이 내게 들어옴을 용납해야 하겠다
