This is a great 'Titan' and a recording I've been waiting for!

Phenomenal playing by Germany's best orchestra (sorry Berlin Philharmonie!), sensibly phrased and paced by the late Japanese conductor Wakasugi.

Nothing is wasted but spared either in this recording: tempos are just right, balance & dynamics couldn't be better. It's on a fast side but all the polyphonic lines are clearly delineated in the warm, vibrant sonics.

Lyrical, poetic, fluent, yet powerful.

Leinsdorf, Kubelik, Steinberg, Abbado, even Chung come to mind while listening to the CD. But it's better than sum of the all.

It was the most enjoyable listening experience in my recent memory!

Multiple counter melodies are interwoven each other so delicately....and Wakasugi captures them so effortlessly that they'll never get in the way of your listening. Of course, this wouldn't have been possible without the fabulous Staatskapelle Dresden.

The CD is out of print but Wakasugi's recording is still available in a Wakasugi/Sony Box set:
