제라드(오페라의 유령 주인공이죠~) 얼굴이 눈에 아른거려 잠이 오질 않아서..

자려다 일어나서 인터뷰 기사 해석하고 있어요..ㅎㅎ

디게 기네요..ㅡㅡ;;

지금 한 3분의 1 정도 한 거 같은데.. 아직 갈길이 머넹....

제가 해석한 거 다 올렸구요..

빨간 부분이 질문이에요..

GERARD BUTLER’S father turned up on the doorstep of the family home in Paisley when Butler was four. 제라드 버틀러의 아버지는 제라드가 4살일 때 페이즐리의 집 앞에 나타났다. Cocooned in the self-absorption of early childhood, he was too young to understand the significance of the stranger. 유년의 자기 도취에 둘러 싸인 그는 이방인의 의미를 이해하기에 너무 어렸다.So shadowy a figure was the dad of the unexpected visit, so insubstantial, that in future years the actor came to wonder if he had made him up. 아주 흐릿한 모습은 뜻밖에 방문한 그의 아버지였고, 너무 비현실적이라 훗날의 배우는 그를 자신이 만들어낸 게 아닌지 의아해 하게 됐다. Perhaps the visit never really happened at all. 아마도 그 방문은 정말로 일어나지 않았는지도 모른다. Perhaps it was just a dream. 아마도 그건 단지 꿈이었을지도. "I never really asked my mother about it," “난 어머니에게 그것에 대해 물어본 적이 결코 없었다”  Butler says now, 30 years later. "But I always wondered, ‘Did I just imagine that? Did he really turn up?’"  버틀러는 30년이 지난 지금 말한다. “그렇지만 난 항상 궁금했다, ‘내가 단지 그걸 상상했던 걸까? 아버지가 정말 나타난 걸까?’”

At 16, he dreamt about his dad. (훔치다..로 해석하는 거 맞나요? 영 해석이 이상해요..ㅡㅡ;;)  그 사이에 그의 아버지는 캐나다에 있었지만 그는 그의 아들의 삶을 잠재의식 중에 살며시 훔쳐갔다 ?? Butler’s parents were both Scottish, but his mother had returned from Canada with three children under the age of six when Butler was two.  버틀러의 부모님은 둘 다 스코틀랜드인이었지만 그의 어머니는 버틀러가 2살일 때 6살도 안된 세 아이들과 함께 캐나다에서 돌아왔다. "I went through to my mum’s bedroom," he recalls, "and I said, ‘Mum, I’m never going to see him again, am I?’ And she said, ‘No, I don’t think so. Butler didn’t need much preparation for his latest role in Dear Frankie. 버틀러는 디어 프랭키엥서의 최근 배역을 위해 많은 준비가 필요하지 않았다. He knew it. He wore it like a pair of comfortable shoes, long ago broken in. 그는 그걸 알고 있었다. 오랫동안 익숙해진 편안한 신발처럼.

It is the story of a little deaf boy, Frankie, and his mother, played brilliantly by Emily Mortimer.  그건 귀머거리 소년 프랭키와, 에밀리 모티머가 훌륭하게 연기한 그의 엄마에 관한 이야기다.  Mortimer is on the run from Frankie’s violent father, but she creates a fantasy for her son.  모티머는 프랭키의 난폭한 아버지로부터 도망 중이지만 아들을 위해 환상을 창조한다.  She tells him the name of a real ship and says his father is a sailor, even writing letters from this imaginary dad and sending them via a post-office box.  그녀는 아들에게 실제 배 이름을 얘기해주고 그의 아버지는 선원이라고 한다, 심지어 상상속의 아버지로부터 편지를 써서 우편함을 통해 보내기도 한다.  Frankie (played by Jack McElhone) tracks the ship around the world, but when it docks in the Scottish town where the family is living, he naturally expects a visit.  프랭키는 세계 곳곳을 뒤져 그 배를 찾아낸다, 그렇지만 그 배가 프랭키 가족이 사는 스코틀랜드 마을에 왔을 때 그는 당연히 방문하려고 한다. Mortimer needs to find a dad 3> for the day.(그날을 위해..? 이거 다른 뜻이 있을 거 같은데..) 4> Enter Butler.(요건 무슨 뜻??) 모티머는 그 날을 위해?? 아빠를 찾아야 한다. 

Clearly, the plot is hokum. 확실히 그 계획은 현실적이지 못하다. Apart from anything else, a mother desperate to get a stand-in dad at short notice would inevitably get a man with the girth of a sumo wrestler and the height of Snow White’s dwarves.  다른 건 차치하고, 당장에 대역 아빠를 구하고 싶은 엄마는 어쩔수 없이 스모선수 만한 덩치에 백설공주의 난장이 만한 키의 남자를 구하려고 한다. Instead, a brooding Butler, 6ft 3in and sporting an Elvis leather jacket, 5> lands on her lap.  (무릎에 착륙하다? 나타나다로 해석하는 거 맞나요? ) 대신, 6 피트 3의 키에 엘비스 가죽 자켓을 뽐내는 수심에 차 보이는 버틀러가 그녀에게 나타난다.  6> As if. (요 아래에 사전에서 찾은 거 썼어요.. 설마.. ? 뭐라고 해석할지....) But 7> if the literal truth of Dear Frankie stretches credulity, the emotional truth is utterly convincing. (영... 어렵네요..) 설마..?? 그렇지만 만약 디어 프랭키의 있는 그대로의 ?? 진실이 믿기 쉬운 걸 과장한다면..?? 감동적인 진실은 정말 납득이 갈 만하다. ?? "We were well aware that we had to keep away from schmaltz and being overly sentimental," says Butler. “우리는 극단적인 감상주의나 지나치게 감상적으로 되는 걸 피해야 한다는 걸 알고 있었어요.” 버틀러는 말한다.

**as if : used to emphasie that something is not true or will not happen. As if! spoken informal : He asked if I'd go out with him. As if! (=it is extremelly unlikely that I would go out with him

On the whole, they do. It is beautifully shot, has a terrific cast, and the central relationship, between Frankie and his mother, is moving.  대체로 그들은 그렇다. 영화는 아름답게 촬영됐고, 출연진도 훌륭하고 프랭키와 엄마 사이의 중요한 관계가 감동적이다.  8>One male critic called it a "gobbling, squawking turkey", but then some critics cope better with beheaded soldiers or gangland bloodbaths than they do with more tender emotion. (아 어려워요.. ㅡㅡ;;)한 남자 비평가는 이 영화를 질질 짜는 칠면조처럼 형편없다고 했지만 몇 비평가들은 그들이 더 부드러운 감성으로 만든 이 영화보다 목잘린 군인들이나 암흑가의 대학살을 더 싫어한다. ?? The audience at the Cannes film festival was less macho. 칸느 영화제의 관객들은 덜 마초적이었다. The film got a cheering, standing ovation, so unexpected that Butler doubts anything in his career will ever make him feel quite that way again. 이 영화는 환호와 기립 박수를 받았고 뜻밖이라 버틀러는 그의 경력에서 어떤 것이 다시 그런 느낌을 갖게 할 수 있을까 생각한다.

But then Butler understands the real emotions 9> behind (요건 무슨 의미로?) not having a father. 그러나 버틀러는 아버지가 없는 실제 감정을 이해한다. Is that why the role was appealing?그게 그 역할이 매력있는 이유일까?  "Totally," he agrees. “정말 그래요” 그는 동의한다. "It was really a cathartic experience. 그건 정말 카타르시스 같은 경험이었죠.  It was one of the easiest jobs I ever did because I so naturally felt I understood the situation that was going on. 그건 내가 해본 가장 쉬운 직업 중에 하나였어요. 왜냐면 난 당연히 일어나는 상황을 이해했다고 느꼈거든요. 10> I really felt the character, and sometimes when you do that you don’t want to think too much about it. (요기도 어색..)난 그 캐릭터를 실제로 느꼈죠. 그리고 때로 뭔가를 할때 그것에 관해 너무 많이 생각하고 싶지 않잖아요.. ??? Every scene was as I both hoped and imagined it would be." 모든 씬이 내가 기대하고 상상했던 대로였어요.
