이집트의 왕 프톨레미(톨로메오) 12세 사망후 당시 17살의
클레오파트라는 남동생 프톨레미 13세와함께 이집트의 새로운
여왕과 왕이 되었다. 그러나 머지않아 프톨레미 13세는 모든
권력을 원했고 그래서 그는 그녀를 이집트 밖으로 추방한다.
이때 클레오파트라의 구원병으로 등장한 인물이 로마의 황제
율리우스 케사르이다. 프톨레미(톨로메오)는 클레오파트라의 남
동생으로 이집트 왕국의 통치권을 놓고 누나와 대립한 인물
이다.
