EAST ASIAN–AUSTRALASIAN FLYWAY PARTNERSHIP(EAAFP)
POSITION VACANT – COMMUNICATION OFFICER
The East Asian – Australasian Flyway Partnership (EAAFP) is the major international framework established for the conservation of migratory waterbirds and their habitat in the flyway.The Flyway Partnership exists to enhance collaboration on the conservation of migratory waterbirds and their habitats as international cooperation is essential to protect migratory waterbirds throughout the flyway.
The EAAFP is served by a Secretariat located in Incheon, Republic of Korea, established in 2009. The Secretariat is an international organization working closely with the Flyway Partners from governments, intergovernmental organizations and NGOs. Its business is conducted in the English language.
The Secretariat is seeking a Communication Officer to take responsibility for supporting the development of the Communication, Education, Participation and Awareness (CEPA) programmed by the Secretariat and its Working Group. This is an international position that includes promoting international cooperation among countries in conserving waterbirds and raising the profile of migratory waterbirds, their habitats and links to people, and the work of EAAFP.
▣ Duties and responsibilities of the Communication Officer include :
• Communication, Education, Participation and Awareness (CEPA) Activities
• Publications, website and Social Media
• Organizing Meetings and Representation
• Communication with Partners
• Publicity
• Others
▣ Required Qualifications and Experience :
The applicant should have good team skills and be able to work with people from different backgrounds and cultures.
• M.A. Degree (or equivalent) in Communications, Public Relations, International Relations or a related field;
• Minimum three years of progressively responsible experience in the field of communication, public relations and event management at regional or international level;
• Fluency in both oral and written English is essential. Knowledge of any other languages in the Asia Pacific region would be an asset;
• Excellent writing/drafting/editing skills at a professional level;
• Proficiency in common computer applications (Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, English versions) is essential;
• Knowledge of relevant computer and media applications is essential to develop and manage EAAFP website and publications(desktop publishing and web management software - e.g. Adobe Design and Web Suite).
▣ Duration of Contract :
This is a full time employment. The period of initial appointment will be for a two (2) year term with the possibility of renewal on the annual evaluation of work performance and continuity of funding.
▣ Starting Date :
As soon as possible but at latest by Monday, 30 September 2013.
▣ Application Procedure :
The position is based in Incheon, Republic of Korea. Taking into account the responsibilities and duties of the position as outlined above, you should respond in writing to the following selection criteria (maximum of 300 words for each criterion) in an attachment:
1. Professional experience - Summarise your professional experience in conducting communication work that is most closely relevant to the EAAFP. Including work with media
2. English Communication experience - Describe your history of English communication in a professional context
3. Working with a range of key stakeholders - Give examples of communication activities involving partners from different countries in which you played a significant role
4. Team work experience - Explain your experience and roles when working in a professional team
5. Knowledge and experience in working in the region - Describe your firsthand knowledge of working in the East Asian- Australasian region, preferably on environmental issues
