Les Nuits d'ete a Pausilippe (Summer Nights at Posillipo)


G. Donizetti의 vocal chamber piece의 모음으로 6곡의 single voice 와 6곡의 two voices를 위한 12곡의 구성이다.

Pausilippe (이태리: Posillipo)는 Naples (나폴리)가 내려다 보이는 이 지역의 산 이름으로 1 세기에 지은
부유한 로마 군인 Publius Vedio Pollione 의 villa d'otium (사진 참조) 의 유적지를 의미한다. 

이 지역의 자연적 배경과 더불어 Posillipo 는 많은 작가와 화가, 그리고 작곡가들에게 영감을 주었다는데
Donizetti 의 이 작품도 그 중의 하나이다.

매년 여름 같은 제목의 concert 가 석양에 인조 조명이나 voicing 없이 이곳에서 열린다.

The wave is pure, the sky serene,
only a breath of peace seems to make the sky and the sea happy: row, row, oh sailor.
Now that everything smiles on us in such a tender moment,
I want our souls to surrender to the intoxication of happiness.
