우리가 일반적으로 말하는 백수는 단순히 직업없이 놀고 있는 상태를 표현하기도 하지만, ‘백수 건달’이라는 표현에서 출발한 것으로 추정한다.

따라서 일반적으로 말하는 ‘백수’에 가장 어울리는 표현이기도 하다.

한편, ‘hanging out’을 쓸 수도 있으나 속된 표현(slang)으로 젊은 세대, 격이 없는 사이에 주로 사용한다.
