『Vincent』는 1971년 미국의 싱어 송 라이터
「Don McLean」이 네델란드 출신의 인상파 화가
'빈센트 반 고흐(Vincent van Gogh 1853~1890)에
대해 찬사와 추모(追慕)하는 내용으로 만든
헌정 (獻呈)곡입니다.
특히 『Vincent』는 '반 고흐'의 1889년 작품인
"별이 빛나는 밤"으로도 알려져 있습니다
「Don McLean」(1945년생)은
'반 고흐'의 삶에 관한 책을 탐독(耽讀)한 후
1971년에 가사를 썼습니다.
이 곡은「Don McLean」의
1971년 발매된 앨범 [American Pie]에
수록되었으며,
1972년 싱글로 발표되었고,
빌 보드 싱글 차트 12위,
어덜트 컨템포러리 차트 2위를 기록 했으며,
영국, 아일랜드,
이탈리아 싱글 차트 1위를 차지 했습니다.
또한 이 곡은 "서정적인 가사와 아름다운 멜로디"로
한국인이 좋아 하는 팝송 중 한 곡으로
꾸준히 애청 되고 습니다.
