여호와께서 나를 사자의 발톱과 곰의 발톱에서 건져내셨은즉
(삼상17:32~54)
삼상17:32 다윗이 사울에게 고하되 그를 인하여 사람이 낙담하지 말것이라 주의 종이 가서 저 블레셋 사람과 싸우리이다
1Sa17:32 And David said to Saul, Let no man's heart fail because of him; thy servant will go and fight with this Philistine.
삼상17:33 사울이 다윗에게 이르되 네가 가서 저 블레셋 사람과 싸우기에 능치 못하리니 너는 소년이요 그는 어려서부터 용사임이니라
1Sa17:33 And Saul said to David, Thou art not able to go against this Philistine to fight with him: for thou art but a youth, and he a man of war from his youth.
삼상17:34 다윗이 사울에게 고하되 주의 종이 아비의 양을 지킬 때에 사자나 곰이 와서 양떼에서 새끼를 움키면
1Sa17:34 And David said unto Saul, Thy servant kept his father's sheep, and there came a lion, and a bear, and took a lamb out of the flock:
삼상17:35 내가 따라가서 그것을 치고 그 입에서 새끼를 건져내었고 그것이 일어나 나를 해하고자 하면 내가 그 수염을 잡고 그것을 쳐 죽였었나이다
1Sa17:35 And I went out after him, and smote him, and delivered it out of his mouth: and when he arose against me, I caught him by his beard, and somte him, and slew him.
삼상17:36 주의 종이 사자와 곰도 쳤은즉 사시는 하나님의 군대를 모욕한 이 할례 없는 블레셋 사람이리이까 그가 그 짐승의 하나와 같이 되리이다
1Sa17:36 Thy servant slew both the lion and the bear: and this uncircumcised Philistine shall be as one of them, seeing he hath defied the armies of the living God.
삼상17:37 또 가로되 여호와께서 나를 사자의 발톱과 곰의 발톱에서 건져내셨은즉 나를 이 블레셋사람의 손에서도 건져 내리시이다 사울이 다윗에게 이르되 가라 여호와께서 너와 함께 계시기를 원하노라
1Sa17:37 David said moreover, The LORD that delivered me out of the paw of the lion, and out of the paw of the bear, he will deliver me out of the hand of this Philistine. And Saul said unto David, Go, and the LORD be with thee.
삼상17:38 이에 사울이 자기 군복을 다윗에게 입히고 놋 투구를 그 머리에 씌우고 또 그에게 갑옷을 입히매
1Sa17:38 And Saul armed David with his armour, and he put an helmet of brass upon his head; also he armed him with a coat of mail.
삼상17:39 다윗이 칼을 군복 위에 차고는 익숙치 못하므로 시험적으로 걸어 보다가 사울에게 고하되 익숙치 못하니 이것을 입고 가지 못하겠나이다 하고 곧 벗고
1Sa17:39 And David girded his sword upon his armour, and he assayed to go; for he had not proved it. And David said unto Saul, I cannot go with these; for I have not proved them. And David put them off him.
삼상17:40 손에 막대기를 가지고 시내에서 매끄러운 돌 다섯을 골라서 자기 목자의 제구 곧 주머니에 넣고 손에 물매를 가지고 블레셋 사람에게로 나아가니라
1Sa17:40 And he took his staff in his hand, and chose him five smooth stones out of the brook, and put them in a shepherd's bag which he had, even in a scrip; and his sling was in his hand: and he drew near to the Philistine.
삼상17:41 블레셋 사람이 점점 행하여 다윗에게로 나아오는데 방패 든 자가 앞섰더라
1Sa17:41 And the Philistine came on and drew near unto David; and the man that bare the shield went before him.
삼상17:42 그 블레셋 사람이 둘러보다가 다윗을 보고 엎신여기니 이는 그가 젊고 붉고 용모가 아름다움이라
1Sa17:42 And when the Philistine looked about, and saw David, he disdained him: for he was but a youth, and ruddy, and of a fair countenance.
삼상17:43 블레셋 사람이 다윗에게 이르되 네가 나를 개로 여기고 막대기를 가지고 내게 나아왔느냐 하고 그 신들의 이름으로 다윗을 저주하고
1Sa17:43 And the Philistine said unto David, Am I a dog, that thou comest to me with staves? And the Philistine
삼상17:44 또 이르되 내게로 오라 네가 네 고기를 공중의 새들과 들짐승들에게 주리라
1Sa17:44 And the Philistine said to David, come to me, and I will give thy flesh unto the fowls of the air, and to the beasts of the field.
삼상17:45 다윗이 블레셋 사람에게 이르되 너는 칼과 창과 단창으로 내게 오거니와 나는 만군의 여호와의 이름 곧 네가 모욕하는 이스라엘 군대의 하나님의 이름으로 네게 가노라
1Sa17:45 Then said David to the Philistine, Thou comest to me with a sword, and with a spear, and with a shield: but I come to thee in the name of the LORD of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom thou hast defied.
삼상17:46 오늘 여호와께서 너를 내 손에 붙이시리니 내가 너를 쳐서 네 머리를 베고 블레셋 군대의 시체로 오늘날 공중의 새와 땅의 들짐승에게 주어 온 땅으로 이스라엘에 하나님이 계신줄 알게 하겠고
1Sa17:46 This day will the LORD deliver thee into mine hand; and I will smite thee, and take thine head from thee; and I will give the carcases of the host of the Philistines this day unto the fowls of the air, and to the wild beasts of the earth; that all the earth may know that there is a God in Israel.
삼상17:47 또 여호와의 구원하심이 칼과 창에 있지 아니함을 이 무리로 알게 하리라 전쟁은 여호와께 속한 것인즉그가 너희를 우리 손에 붙이시리라
1Sa17:47 And all this assembly shall know that the LORD saveth not with sword and spear: for the battle is the LORD' S, and he will give you into our hands.
삼상17:48 블레셋 사람이 일어나 다윗에게로 마주 가까이 올 때에 다윗이 블레셋 사람에게로 마주 그 항오를 향하여 빨리 달리며
1Sa17:48 And it came to pass, when the Philistine arose, and came and drew nigh to meet David, that David hasted, and ran toward the army to meet the Philistine.
삼상17:49 손을 주머니에 넣어 돌을 취하여 물매로 던저 블레셋 사람의 이마를 치매 돌이 그 이마에 박히니 땅에 엎드러지니라
1Sa17:49 And David put his hand in his bag, and took thence a stone, and slang it, and smote the Philistine in his forehead, that the stone sunk into his forehead; and he fell upon his face to the earth.
삼상17:50 다윗이 이같이 물매와 돌로 블레셋 사람을 이기고 그를 쳐 죽였으나 자기 손에는 칼이 없었더라
1Sa17:50 So David prevailed pover the Philistne with a sling and with a stone, and smote the Philistine, and slew him: but there was no sword in the hand of David.
삼상17:51 다윗이 달려가서 블레셋 사람을 밟고 그의 칼을 그 집에서 빼어내어 그 칼로 그를 죽이고 그 머리를 베니 블레셋 사람들이 자기 용사의 죽음을 보고 도망하는지라
1Sa17:51 Therefore David ran, and stood upon the Philistine, and took his sword, and drew it out of the sheath thereof, and slew him, and cut off his head therewith. And when the Philistines saw thier champion was dead, the fied.
삼상17:52 이스라엘과 유다 사람들이 일어나서 소리지며 블레셋 사람을 쫓아 가이와 에그론 성문까지 이르렀고 블레셋 사람의 상한 자들은 사아라임 가는 길에서부터 가드와 에그론까지 엎드러졌더라
1Sa17:52 And the men of Israel and of Judah arpse. amd sjpited. and pursued the Philistines, until thou come to the valley, and to the gates of Ekron. And the wounded of the Philistines fell down by the way to Shaaraim, even unto Gath, and unto Ekron.
삼상17:53 이스라엘 자손이 블레셋 사람을 쫓다가 돌아와서 그들이 진을 노략하였고
1Sa17:53 And the children of Israel returned from chasing after the Philstines, and they spoiled their tents.
삼상17:54 다윗은 블레셋 사람의 머리를 예루살렘으로 가져가고 갑주는 자기 장막에 두니라
1Sa17:54 And David took the head of the Philistine, and brought it to Jerusalem; but he put his armour in his tent.
인생을 살아가다 보면 우리는 여러 방면으로 삶에 대하여 많은 준비를 하며 살아갑니다. 그러면서 자신이 준비한 신무기를 앞세우며 아주 작은 것을 깔보며 무시하는 경우를 보게 됩니다.
As we go through life, we spend much of our time preparing ourselves in many different ways. Yet, there are times when people become so confident in the "new weapons" they have acquired that they look down on and disregard things they consider small or insignificant.
오늘 본문에 나오는 골리앗이라는 또 골리앗을 싸고 있는 완벽하다고 말할 수 밖에는 없는 중무장한 군인들 이것으로 이미 그들은 승리의 자축을 벌이고 이미 그들은 이긴것처럼 떠들어 대는 것을 볼 수있습니다.
In today's passage, we see Goliath and the heavily armed soldiers surrounding him. They appeared so powerful and fully equipped that one could hardly describe them as anything less than invincible. Confident in their strength, they were already celebrating victory and boasting as though the battle had already been won.
하지만 전혀 예상치 못한 보기에도 싸움이라고는 전혀 어울릴 것 같지 않은 어린 아이와도 같은 그 한 사람이 그 거대한 제국과도 같은 적군을 무찔러 이겼다고 말하고 있습니다.
Yet the passage tells us that a single person-someone who seemed no more than a young boy and completely unsuited for battle- defeated an enemy force that appeared as mighty and formidable as a great empire.
몸집이 커서 얼마든지 상대해서 이길 수 있다고 자부했던 그 사람들한테 너무나 어이없는 단순한 돌 하나로 그들을 깔끔하게 정리했다는 것이죠.
Those who were confident that, because of their great size, they could take on and defeat anyone were brought down by something as simple as a single stone. It is astonishing that such a small and ordinary stone completely brought them to ruin.
사람들의 생각은 마치 이 세상을 다 가질 것처럼 자신을 극도로 날카롭게 하여 무기를 만들며 버틴다고 하여도 하나님께서 쓰시는 그 한 사람이 갈고 닦아온 날아간 돌맹이 하나에 모두 패배하게 된 것입니다.
People may sharpen themselves and forge their weapons, acting as though they possess the whole world and are secure in their own strength. Yet in the end, they are defeated by a single stone launched by the one person whom God chooses to use.
야구를 보게 되면 그 경기에 투수가 어떠한 역량에 따라서 그 경기가 이길 수도 질 수도 있다고 생각합니다. 그것은 투수가 상대의 허점을 잘 공략할 수 있는 어떠한 변화구에 따라서 그 경기는 이 길수 도 있기 때문이라고 생각합니다.
When we watch a baseball game, we often think that the outcome of the game can be determined by the ability of the pitcher. This is because the pitcher may be able to exploit the weaknesses of the opposing team with a well- thrown breaking ball, and that can make the difference between victory and defeat.
우리의 삶에는 너무도 많은 갑옷을 두룬채 준비를 하는 것을 볼 수도 있습니다. 하지만 세상의 사람들은 도저히 상상할 수도 없는 아주 작은 것을 통해서도 이 세상을 넉넉히 이기게 하시기도 또한 하나님께서 원하시는 전쟁의 승리는 아무도 막을 수 없다는 것을 바라보게 됩니다.
In our lives, we often see people preparing themselves with many layers of armor, trusting in their own strength and resources. Yet God can bring victory through things that seem small and insignificant- things the world could never imagine. Through this, He shows us that no one can stand in the way of the victory He has ordained and no one can prevent the triumph of the battles He chooses to win.
