The present study aimed at examining the effect of project work on elementary-level learners' writing competence of English. For this purpose, 78 learners in the 5th year participated in two projects of writing a storybook of English for two semesters. At the pre-project stage, they practised writing skill through vocabulary, controlled, and guided writing tasks in turn. In addition, they completed the project work at the end of each semester. To examine their progress in writing competence, pre and post writing tests were administered and a survey was done to investigate the participants' satisfaction and opinions about the projects. The results showed that the learners' writing competence was significantly improved. According to the survey, they were satisfied with the participation in the project learning. As a result, it was turned out that the project of making a storybook of English could give a positive effect on writing competence of elementary-level Korean learners |
