여러분들께,
저는 최근에 위대한 잠양 켄체 왕뽀와 잠양 켄체 최끼 로되의 개인적인 소유물이라고 주장하는 물건을 판매하려고 하는 사람들을 발견했습니다. 일부 주장이 사실일 수 있지만 그러한 주장과 상관없이 가장 중요한 것은, 물건에 엄청난 가격을 지불해야 하는 이 거래를 하지 않는 것입니다.
좋은 마음을 가진 제 학생들 중에 이 물건들을 보호하기 위해 사고 싶어한다는 것을 개인적으로 알고 있습니다.
그들의 좋은 동기에 무척 감사하지만, 우리는 이 거래를 억제하고 중단할 필요가 있습니다, 이는 매우 해로운 일입니다. 이미 히말라야 전역의 많은 사원들이 이러한 상거래로 고통받고 있습니다. 그리고 장기적으로 볼 때, 아무리 신성한 성물일지라도, 그것을 상품이나 투자로 생각하거나 다루는 것은 결코 바람직하지 못합니다, 이는 커다란 오해를 불러일으킬 수 있습니다. 만약 여러분이 이를 산다면 설령 그것이 아무리 좋은 의도일지라도, 여러분은 많은 극단적인 물질주의자들에게 아주 나쁜 습관을 조성할 수 있습니다.

To whom it may concern.
I have recently noticed people trying to sell items that they claim to be personal belongings of the great Jamyang Khyentse Wangpo and Jamyang Khyentse Chokyi Lodro.
While some claims may possibly be true, it is of utmost importance – regardless of such claims – not to encourage this trade, as some are doing by paying exorbitant prices for these objects.
I personally know that some of my own students, with a very good heart, want to buy these objects in order to protect them. While I very much appreciate their good motivation, we really need to discourage and stop this trade, which is very harmful.
Already, many monasteries throughout the Himalayan region are suffering from such commerce. And in the longer run, no matter how sacred an object may be, it is never good to think of or treat it as a commodity or investment, which creates great misunderstanding. If you buy it, even with good intention, you foster a very bad habit that will be passed on to many others who are extremely materialist.
If you really have extra money to spend, then it will create far more benefit to translate a single page of the Kangyur through 84000, or to help Khyentse Foundation support a nun to do retreat for even a week or a Cambodian monk to study the dharma. That is also my wish.
