My main takeaway from 3 days of meetings in Washington, including senior officials: war between US and N Korea is much closer than many people realise. Officials think deterrence unlikely to work v KJU. Unless sanctions change N Korea's behaviour, US could start a pre-emptive war.

미국 백악관놈들은 저렇게 생각할 지 몰라도, 그들을 비판하는 미국민들도 많더군요.
사정이 이러니 오히려 북한이 이제는 억지력을 갖게되었다고 느낄 것이라고 말하는 이들도 있습니다.

북한 화성15형이 부서져 재진입에 실패했다는 미국의 주장에 대해,
"Breakup" can mean several things:
1. Stresses became too strong (real breakup);
But possibly also:
2. Deliberate destruction to avoid recovery & analysis;
3. Intended separation in multiple parts (e.g. fairings ejected, warhead separates from post-boost vehicle or RV bus)

North Korea feels it now has its side of the mutual deterrence capability. Why would McMaster, ROK officials etc, spend so much effort trying to persuade it otherwise?
그외 이 위기에서 북한이 미국을 억지(deter)하고 있음을 알게되었다는 미국민도 있습니다.
